The Remarkables Ski Area Questions & Answers

We are a family of 6. We are planning to go up the Remarkables during our trip in June. Our youngest, 11 yrs, is not too keen on skiing & snowboarding but the rest are.

Is there an area where those who do not want to ski/board can play with the snow, run around etc.? (With parental supervision, of course)

Can those who do not want to ski/board go up the chair lift?(cos the people who took the chair lifts in the many videos I watched all have the skis/boards on their feet)

Is it a must to sign up for lessons? Can we just rent the equipment and then ski/board on our own?

We would like to cater to all in the family so that we can all have fun during this trip.

Any tips and suggestions will be helpful.

Hi,

Yes, there is plenty of areas off to the side down the bottom near the buildings were kids can play in the snow (supervised).

Yes, you can go on the ski lift up to the top without skis/boards. You will need to buy a lift pass ticket for this as it costs to go up. You should be able to buy this from the ticket office on the mountain if you require it.

No, it is not a must to do lessons. If you've never done it before, it might be a good option though (plenty of good tutorials on YouTube though).

Plenty of places in Queenstown for snow gear hire (i'd recommend One stop ski hire 7 Duke st or sister company SnowBiz - same location). This is where i've hired from and never had an issue.

Hope this helps and you have a great time.
