Do you know if Bldg. B units get a sunset view? alot recommending Bldg. A.
If you are looking for the best sunset view from your lanai I would recommend building C. This is the building that is the most requested for views of the ocean and sunset.
The most requested building for views of the ocean and sunset that we receive are for building C. I hope this help.
Actually, it depends on what time of year you are visiting because of the way the property is oriented on a bluff. It's on a point after all! You can have an ocean view unit without facing due west. During the summer months, the ocean view units in several buildings will have excellent sunset views with the possible exception of building A,which faces more north. A decent number of ocean view units in building B also have more or a northwest orientation. Buildings C-F have ocean view units facing a bit towards the north, a corner unit, and then units facing more west. However, in the winter months, some of the units that face in a more northerly direction will not allow you to see the sun setting to the horizon, though you should still get beautiful sunset colors in the sky, I know that buildings F and H both have corner units with master bedroom windows and lanais (one per unit) facing both more northerly and more southwest. The H building's orientation ensures year round sunset views from the corner unit and perhaps also from the other first flioor ocean view units if you are on the lawn. The second floor units might also afford this view -- not sure since there is no lawn to walk out on -- and there may be other buildings whose "tip of the arrow" units ensure year round sunset views. Check out a map of the property showing the buildings and their orientation and the orientation of the entire property itself. Remember that the property is on a point and so you get more than180 degrees of ocean viewing from the property as a whole. The units facing in a more northerly direction will have lovely sunset colors but less of a true sunset view, and the closer to winter it is, the more you need to face southwest to see the sun set over the water. Again, the colors will be stunning from other units, too. No matter what unit you are in, though, you can always walk to the front of the south golf course (the one the Mauna Lani Point is on) to the Fisherman's Trail (should take you maybe a minute or two tops from any building) and watch the sunset from there. In the interest of full disclosure, my family owns a condo at the Point.
for some of the B units the answer is yes. Most of the B units face North and have a sea view, but if you really want a full sunset view be sure to tell the hotel when you book. They always try to accommodate guests. Personally, I'd ask to an upper unit so the view is not blocked in any way. Also, on the Maui Lani site there is a map showing the units which will give you a better idea of the layout. You're going to love your stay. I envy you. Enjoy and I hope this was helpful.
Building B did not have a front sunset view our unit didn't either. Not that it was a problem. We just moved our lounge chairs to the left and then could see the sunset. The rest of the day the golf course and ocean views were beautiful.
