hello
give me quickest way to reach ski museum and tower from oslo central station. I understand there was 20 minutes walk from station... is it so? i dont have car while in oslo so would have to use train or bus. Cab being too heavy on pockets is out of question.
I want to see ski tower and dont want to spend much time in museum.. pl suggest.
thanks

take the metro (T-bane) from Oslo Central Station- Westbound Line 1 to Holmenkollen. walk up hill from there.
Or go by a Oslo Sighteeing Bus to see more museums, like the Viking Ships and the Vigeland sculpture Park.
The metro is the easiest way to travel around from Oslo city centre
Very reasonable it’s about £7
From the tube station it is a bit of a walk up the hill but 100% worth it and everyone does it .....
I would also say if you get a chance do the zip wire off the ski slope
The train is the best, quickest, and most cost effective way to get up the mountain. You are correct - there is a bit of walk - uphill - to the museum and jump tower. Well worth the walk, though.
The best way is to get the T-Bane, Oslo underground train the Light Blue Line No1. I think it is about 17 stops to Holmenkollen. The station is adjacent to Oslo Central Station or National Theatre Station next to Karl Johans Gate.
I advice you to buy the Oslo Pass which can be purchased at the Tourist Information Centre located in the Central Station.
It gives free travel on the T-Bane,Trams,Buses & free admission to over 30 attractions & museums. A 24 hour pass costs 395 NOK, 48 hour 595 NOK, 72 hour 745 NOK. These passes can be brought on line also prior to going.
Hope you have an enjoyable trip. If stuck ask any Norwegian you will find they are pleased to help.
Thanks all of you.
I am reaching on 19th june tuesday.. How is it during week day.. too crowded?? or manageable.. Can I complete from Besserud station to tower and back in 1 hour. Further how much time is it from oslo central to besserud station by train?

It is easy, take the T-bane nr.1 to Frognerseteren (end station at the topp of Holmenkollen). Stop at Besserud station, then you have a short walk (5 min) to the Holmenkollen ski stadion and the museum.
hi mukti
metro line 1 in the direction of frognerseteren was our choice as the metro was more easily accessible for us. there is a semi-steep walk which took us less than 20 minutes as we are all quite active, closer to 10. basically follow the crowds. you don't have to see the museum, once upstairs keep left and head towards the lift for the ski jump. dress warmly if you intend on doing the zip line. it's an additional cost.
You could take the Line # 1 train from the Oslo Train station, or you could take the line 32 bus. I would recommend the train, as it gives you a great view of the Oslo area on the way to the ski area. The train will make a number of stops along the way, but on a sunny day, the Oslo views are worth it.
Yes, the train station is below the hill where the ski museum and jump are located, and it is a steep walk up to the area. 20 minutes might be a bit pessimistic, but it is definitely a steep walk to get there.
The ski tower is impressive !
