May I have itinerary of Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna to Hallstatt and Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna to Salzburg? We planned to travel to both place on July 14 and 15 but we afraid that there are some duplicate place in both trip. Kindly advise. Thank you.
Yes you are right there is duplication - lake attersee, st gilden. We got to visit the st Michael church where the wedding in The Sound of Music was filmed, on the Hallstat trip.
You should highlight to Alligator Tours that you are intending to do the Salzburg n Hallstat tours and perhaps they could tweak the itinerary for you. This may be a little tricky as the itinerary is already outlined in the website and expectations have to be met.
There is a local market in st gilden on Sat, not sure if that is the case on Sunday. If st gilden has to be on both itineraries then you could split the sightseeing!
Hope this helps.
I agree with the other answers. To Hallstatt is a long drive and the two/three stops were well timed and allowed you to buy a drink or snack. There is a lot to see in Hallstatt and the guide does have a good deal of knowledge about the town. There are a number of places for lunch. Be sure to plan what you would like to do when you have free time. I had an idea and it worked out well. White Alligator Tours are excellent at answering emails so if in doubt ask them directly.
It is best if you directly get in touch with this tour operator. They will customize it for you, making sure that nothing is duplicated.
The Hallstatt tour started with a pick up in Vienna at our place. On the way to Hallstatt we stopped at 3 scenic areas in the Lake District for pictures and a stretch (only 5-10 minutes each). When we arrived in Hallstatt we were handed off to a great local guide who walked us through the town and told us a bit about the history and the town. After about an hour we were left to our own free time for about 1.5 or 2 hours. We opted to have lunch by the lake and take the funicular up to the viewing platform (incredible) and to walk up to (but not visit because of time) the salt mine area. It was one of the highlights of my whole trip! I just wish we had slightly more free time so we could have visited the salt mines and/or poked around the super cute town a bit more. In hindsight maybe grabbing a quick bite to go from somewhere while continuing to explore would have been a better use of time rather than sitting down for a meal. We drove straight back and were dropped at our place.
