A group of us will be staying at this hotel in November - looking at the reviews, I keep seeing some complaints about street noise and lots of stairs in the hotel. Are the rooms overlooking the garden preferable and are there any elevators in the hotel?
Thank you all for taking the time to post your expericences at Hotel Talisman.
Have a great Summer

There is an elevator. The garden is lovely. Unfortunately the traffic in the morning is noisey. They go around a sharp left turn and the tires squeal. I thought it was the wind the first day since the wind was 60 MPH. But it was the tires squealing. I got used to it.
Hello, and I hope this is helpful. I agree to try and get an inside room if quiet is important for you and if it is possible. We did have some problem with a barking dog, which did not stop for a couple of hours. Otherwise, not much to complain about. There is an elevator to the rooms easily accessible from the reception, bar and restaurant. The stairs are wide. As we were also there later in the year, everything else was pretty quiet, so I wouldn t worry about it. Just wanted to repeat that the restaurant staff and willingness to provide an extra heater if necessary, are just two additional pluses that this hotel offers. The pool in November ... maybe for wading a bit ... Have a great trip!
Street noise was not a problem for us at all, There are elevators. You will have a wonderful stay. Talisman is a superior hotel.
Hi... we stayed in a room overlooking the front street which is restricted to deliveries and hotel traffic and didn't find it a particular problem in fact it was nice to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by. As one of the other respondents noted by the gardens in the square there is some wheel squeal so the other sides may be better for you. If your going in November there won't be too many people sitting out at night.
In regards to the stairs yes there are a few but the lift worked fine. The hotel is a real find in a great location with a good breakfast.
Have a lovely stay

Hi...We loved overlooking the garden. We had a small balcony and loved sitting out there. The noise is minimal, in my opinion. There is a slight squeaking of car tires as they turn the corner but it didn't bother me at all. There are elevators as well as stairs and we used both. I loved this hotel and if I went back to the Azores, I would definitely stay there again! Enjoy your trip!!
Having recently stayed at Hotel Talisman I hope I can answer your question. Yes there is street noise but only as you would expect from any large town. Our room was above a pedestrianised street lined with restaurants and cafes. We could occasionally hear people talking and the odd barking dog, however this is part of the atmosphere of staying in a central location in my opinion. We never noticed noise at night. The rooms overlooking the garden may be quieter, but then you then you may possibly hear a little road noise. Regarding stairs, this is not a high rise hotel and I believe the bedrooms are on the first and second floors only. The roof top pool is on the third floor. There may be a short flight of stairs to get to the pool. There is a large modern elevator but we chose to take the stairs as you can experience the beautiful decor. My wife and I loved this hotel. It is charming and in the perfect spot for exploring the old town. We wouldn't hesitate to return again.
There are elevators in the hotel. As for street noise I have stayed on two different sides of the building and have not had an issue with street noise.
Hello. This is a wonderful hotel with much class.Beautiful second floor seating room for as quiet group party. We did it and the restaurant brought the food and wine and set ups up.
Only one complain about street noise from the last room on the second front rooms. They were facing the corner. There are elevators and very nice wide stairs. Very nice breakfast. Enjoy your stay. It is so central to everything.
