We are considering booking this hotel for a short break but recent reviews are rather off-putting, particularly about the local area. We like a choice of places to eat and drink when on holiday and we are not the biggest fans of Weatherspoons. Are there any nice restaurants and pubs close to this hotel?
Foods on the hotel restaurant are expensive but it's nice we normally eat at the town there are plenty of restaurant to choose it depends what you want to eat and there's a lot of pub to choose.
Sorry to take so long in reply..only just found your question.
It is a hotel....safe area...and I only use hotels in area while working.
Food at Mercure is very very good.
Weatherspoons over road,i see you not like...but it is good food, good price...I used it once when staying at holiday inn express....food in that hotel...dreadful.
snack....subway across from weatherspoons...both under 5 min walk from Mercure.
Not really near it - as I said in my review, it's on the outskirts, so not much in the immediate area. The centre of Norwich is quite good, however - we ate at Carluccio's, but there are independent places too.
We've stayed at Mercure Norwich several times. As others have said, the restaurant is good. There aren't many tiger restaurants nearby - except Whetherspoons and a 'big M' in the nearby Asda. However, the hotel can book a taxi into rage city centre with a very good, reliable company which doesn't cost much and means you don't need to worry about parking charges or about drinking 'n driving! Norwich has a lot if very good restaurants.
The hotel is not in the centre and in a commercial area. There are the usual fast food places around and supermarkets. The hotel restaurant is good but I think you need to drive into the city centre.
The hotel restaurant is very good, as are the bar meals, they have listened and upped their game!
You also have a Weatherspoon opposite and are on the main bus route in to the city centre, just 15 minute journey by bus or taxi
