we would like to go to this beach during our cruise stop like you did. I was wondering how you got there? did you get a cab? give me the details please :)
our cruise port is Willemstad.
Hello, we were a party of 6 and booked a private tour with Curacao Dreams. Visit of city, sheet Boca National Park, snorkelling wit Turtles etc. It was a great full day .
We were actually staying for a week in Westpunt which is much further west so we rented a car. We went to Kenepa on a day trip. If your cruise ship is stopping in Willemstad you will be at least one hour from Kenepa as it is quite far west. Depending on how much time you have it is certainly worth the drive. Playa Porto Marie is also very nice and about 20 minutes closer. There are also many beautiful beaches closer to Willemstad such as Mambo beach and Jan Thiel however they are much busier and more commercialized. The beaches further west are quiet and unspoiled.
We had a friend there who had a rental car. I did see many people arrive by cab, but I’m unsure of the cost.
It truly is a beautiful spot!
Rent a car. Cab fare is super expensive. They can smell tourists a mile away. A rental may cost about $60 for the day but it’s well worth it. Cabs cost about $80 USD each way!!!
We took an all day tour around the island and this beach was one stop. we only spent an hour there.
Hi Amber. I actually paid for a beach excursion from my cruise ship. It included stops at two beaches, and tickets for a beach chair, a shower, and a drink. The guide also gave us a great tour of the island while driving around between the beaches and we stopped at a few other scenic places of interest. I was on Viking and the charge for this excursion was $60.00 which was well worth it. Don’t forget to take your snorkeling equipment and a pair of water shoes for the rocks. I hope that you can find your way to the beaches here, they are worth the trip!
This beach is about an hour from the cruise port. We rented a car (but were there for five days). A closer beach to the port by about twenty min is Playa Porto Marie.
I got there on an all-day island tour via Irie Tours, which is a fun way to see the whole island (see my review!). The bus stops at the port, of course.
Yess, as soon as you get off at the port, you will choose a taxi and they will take you to the beach
We also rented a car, since we stayed on the island. There’s a public bus system on the island with frequent stops, inexpensive, but the busses only come once an hour. I’d recommend using a taxi, no Uber is available.
We had a rented vehicle during our stay. Takes a good 40 min from Williamstad. If you’re looking for a beautiful beach close, take a cab to Avila Beach Resort (few min away from port) pay $10 for day access
If you have a full day (8+ hours) and there are at least two people in your party then I would recommend renting a car for the day so you can come and go as you wish and it will be significantly cheaper than taking a tour or by taxi. Plus, you will be able to stop at multiple beaches.
