Is it too far to hike Old Rag? Google says the Old Rag parking area is an hour away -- not sure if that is accurate?

thanks for the info! I think it will depend on the weather ... it seems too far/difficult if wet -- hoping for sunny skies!!

You'd need to drive to the trailhead for Old Rag. Check the map or call Skyland to see how far it is from Old Rag. Also note the NPS website: "Old Rag is Shenandoah's most popular and most dangerous hike. The number of blogs and websites about this hike attests to its popularity. The number of search and rescue missions each year attests to its danger. There's no doubt that the scramble is great fun and the views are spectacular. A day on Old Rag is one of Shenandoah's premier experiences. We want to be sure that your experience is not marred by an accident or health issue that could be prevented with good planning."

Not really sure. We didn't hike that one. But looking at the map we have, the trail to Old Rag does appear to be accessible from Skyland via the AT and a side trail or 2. But it would add a mike or so to your hike versus the trail head at MP43.
