We will be here in July. Just wondering what the opinion here is on thong swimwear. I'm discrete and would look for a less crowded section of beach. I know it's not the norm here but is it seen and at least acceptable?
The tourists would probably not mind but families and locals are fairly conservative in St Thomas. They generally go to the parks like Magens and Lindquist on the weekends and might not approve. So ask someone on the island for suggestions of more appropriate beaches.
I would think it would be fine. Quiet less crowded beach
Lindquist is one of the quieter beaches in St. Thomas. Sundays are when local families go so you may want to be more conservative on that day, out of respect. Otherwise enjoy yourself in whatever you are comfortable in!
Well, just don't go there when there's a lot of ships in town.
This is less crowded than Magens Bay.
This is a quiet place to enjoy the sun and the water.
They won't care since this place is almost like you're in America and if you get the looks who cares , you are in vacation so enjoy
There was absolutely no issue and I was not the only one wearing a thong or cheeky type suit. It’s not common and as a matter of fact the majority we saw were at the marriot pool of all places
Hi. If wearing a thong, my advice would be to keep to the more private right or left ends of lindquist beach. As others have said: while still a quiet beach (re touristas), the locals like it and there is a level of conservatism to be found.
I didn't see any thong wearers, and there were lots of young people so it is probably not the norm. I guess it's a personal choice.
Lindquist is less crowded during the week. locals use this beach especially on weekends so where it during the week...not weekends when local families go there. Locals prefer tourists to be covered up when shopping etc
I have seen them worn on Sapphire Beach and do not believe there is any reason you couldn't wear it on Lindquist either. That's more remote than Sapphire. In general the locals appreciate when in public places, not beaches, that men wear shirts and women have a cover up. That would be for say a grocery store or anywhere in Red Hook. Sounds like you are already planning that. Have a great time. It's one of my most favorite beaches. Walk to the left for more privacy although there is less shade options than to the right.
I see them on all the beaches there and we'very been to many. You'd be fine!
Yes- that should not be a problem
