This was our third cruise this year, the previous two being on Explorer and all cruises have been fabulous. Our balcony cabin 7008 was great and had all we needed and was nice and quiet. Cabin stewards were always on hand and very friendly, as was all the very hard working staff everywhere. We ate in 47 where we had excellent service and the food was always hot and tasty with enough choice. We ate once in Surf & Turf as it was a special occasion. It was very nice but not really worth the extra cost as the food and service in 47 was just as good. I enjoyed the shows but not so much the tribute acts. There were 950 passengers on board so was never crowded but there was still plenty of good atmosphere.

Both my sister and I are currently on this cruise and it’s our 4th day. The food is disgusting every evening meal we have had a problem with it, with it not being cooked right. Spoke to chef and staff who all seem to be chatting about us complaining amongst themselves making it noticeable in front of us. It has got to the point that my sister couldn’t take it anymore and walked out of restaurant in tears. We have another 5 days and we don’t want to go back into restaurants anymore. If we could go home we would as this has been up to now an awful experience. This is not our first cruise so are aware of standards of a cruise ship and this falls way below standard. However if you like to drink then there’s every drink available. Its like they are catering more towards drinkers than everything else. We have been on a Tui cruise in the past, before it became all inclusive and it was much better. Since them going all inclusive it has changed this cruise line massively!!! I’d say it was 3 star at the very best and that’s being generous!!! We will be in touch with TUI on our return as this is being the worst experience ever. You certainly don’t go on holiday to be made to cry. Disgraceful. My advice would be if you like half decent food and to have a relaxing holiday choose a different cruise company, however if you enjoy drinking then this cruise is for you. I would say this cruise is very much like a different cruise liner with a different name which do mini sailings to Amsterdam only difference being that’s there no violence on board like I've experienced on the mini cruise company!!!

paid just over £700 each for inside cabin(3 adults) and am pleased to say that a good time was had by all. my minor gripes would be 1) the admin process, online forms, covid etc was quite a laborious and stressful experience. 2) i would describe the buffet food as average-hardly piping hot and not the tastiest. having said that there was a reasonable choice so even the fussiest(like myself)should get by. good points-if you take advantage of the all inc drinks offer -it will end up being exceptional value for money-and you dont have to go nuts either! it is probably worth upgrading to the premium package if you prefer certain drinks and have a liking for lattes for example.Treat yourselves to the Asian themed restaurant which is top notch and a superb dining experience. I will also say that the fast food on offer in the "glass house" and the"snack shack" were both consistant and tasty. All staff on board were extremely polite and made you feel welcome at all times. I cant comment on the live shows as not my thing however the live music provided was adequate if not repetative. summary-quite tedious getting admin together, buffet food a little bland, outstanding staff servce, clean and tidy ship, superb value, options for various excursions. would i go again? certainly would-with an upgraded cabin and premium package . cheers jamie/steff and jack (crazy brothers!)

We have returned from two weeks onboard the Discovery 2. This was the first time the ship had sailed in 5-months, so there were (as expected) some teething issues and a few niggles. We were on the ‘Mediterranean Highlights’ and ‘Treasures of the Mediterranean’ itineraries. It has been an enjoyable cruise and we’ve enjoyed ourselves. Hope the below summary is helpful for future cruisers: Cabin - we were in a junior suite on deck 8 and found our cabin very dated and in need of the upcoming refurbishment. The coffee table was badly chipped and most of our drawers were loose and some could not be opened at all. The bathroom was OK but the water pressure in the shower was poor. The coffee machine did not work & some of the towels had seen better days. Hopefully this will be sorted when the cabins are refurbished. The balcony was great - very spacious and we used it regularly. Dining - we generally ate evening meals in the 47 restaurant where the menu changed daily. We did try Gallery 47 (Italian) on one occasion and it was very nice, but we did find it difficult to get in here without a 45min wait time. Every menu has something for everyone and we never struggled to find something to order. The meals are generally very good and so is the service. Staff are incredibly attentive and I don’t think we ever saw the bottom of a glass! We had a few nights where service was rather slow, but not the end of the world. Surf & Turf Restaurant - we ate in here twice and enjoyed fabulous meals both times. Thoroughly recommend and I think it’s worth the £29.95 per person charge (which includes drinks). You are well looked after and it is a lovely evening with super food. The lobster was delicious and steak cooked to perfection. Drinks - we did not struggle to get served in any of the bars, even when they were busy, and generally found the quality of drinks to be fine. Cocktails were hit & miss (usually miss!) so we didn’t bother with them. Bar staff were working incredibly hard to try and ensure drinks were poured to your liking. The ‘house’ wine poured from carafes was not great - but wine poured direct from the bottle was much better. Entertainment - we thought the entertainment was generally very good. The live shows in the show lounge (except one) were brilliant and that show cast are very talented. The Atrium would benefit from a wider variety of entertainment, it’s a lovely bar area and we found the dancing (which no one took part in) and the piano players a little repetitive by the second week. The ‘farewell’ show in the Atrium was good. The atmosphere on the ship was good, but the ship is beginning to show its age - there are some areas that would benefit from being refurbished. A disappointment for us was the volume of maintenance work being carried out during our first week on board. Overall, a very enjoyable holiday and would recommend a Marella Cruise to anyone thinking about it. The staff work incredibly hard to provide a seamless and great passenger experience.
