We had high expectations which were exceeded in every way. A beautiful yacht with a fabulous crew. 16 passengers and 13 crew. The room was very nice and it was cleaned a few times per day. The food was good and plentiful. Just being on the yacht was great, but the daily activities were excellent. Every day there was at least one hike and snorkeling. There was one guide for eight people. They were very knowledgeable and were a pleasure to be with. This was not an inexpensive trip, but we fell that it was well worth the money.

The Galapagos experience is unique in so many ways, history, biology, and geology to start. Quasar Expeditions offers tours on 2 ships, and we took the "Grace" because of the smaller size. There are only 16 passengers (2 Zodiac loads) at most. On our trip there were 2 naturalists, one for each boat, and we switched between them randomly. The naturalists were superbly informed, very patient, and sincerely dedicated to the sharing and protection of their homes. (They were both natives). From the beginning, Quasar saw to all the details. Tickets, transfers, staging stops, etc. We spent 2 nights near the airport in Quito at Hacienda Jimenita (very highly recommended) before flying to the Grace in the Galapagos. We were in one of the lower deck and less expensive cabins which proved to be a plus when things got a bit "rolly". Low and aft is the byword for comfort. Every need was very carefully looked after. Every! Food was fantastic, crew very helpful in getting us (over 80's) off and on the Zodiacs. There were generally 4 activities a day including hiking, snorkeling, swimming, and kayaking. Snorkeling equipment including "shortie" wetsuits was first class. It was a "dream experience" enhanced by the guides and "yachty" experience of being on "Grace". There were 4 children (8-15) aboard, and I was reminded how special that experience is in shaping future attitudes. Cannot put a value on that!

Our week cruising in the Galapagos Islands was so miraculous that I do not have the adjectives to describe it, other than to express my gratitude to G-d for creating such beauty in this world. It was humbling and exhilarating to experience life in this archipelago over 600 miles from the coast of Ecuador, which has been preserved in its natural beauty through the great efforts and truly loving care of conservationists and the Ecuadorian government, who protect it and repair the damage from tourists and pirates. We were honored to sail on the M/Y Grace with 18 guests and 13 staff. The Grace was born in 1928 and has an incredible story that includes chasing (and catching!) German E-boats and U-boats in WWII, as well as evacuating over 900 soldiers from Dunkirk, all as part of the Royal British Navy. Sir Winston Churchill sailed on her. Later she was acquired by Aristotle Onassis and subsequently was given to Princess Grace and Prince Rainier as a honeymoon gift. It bears Princess Grace’s name today and shines because of its elegance on the seas where it is an icon of the Galapagos. The cabins were spacious, clean, and comfy. Chef, David, created delicious fish and vegetarian dishes for us at each meal. He met the challenge of pescetarians who did not eat shellfish or salt (see pictures). The crew accommodated our requests, including lighting Shabbat candles, jumping off the top deck of the ship, free swims in the ocean, and family style Kraft Macaroni & Cheese (not my request, but I ate some, for sure). The highlight, of course, was nature, which our amazing naturalists from the M/Y Grace guided us through, at every step.. We had 12 hours of day light each day and used it to admire the varied habitats of the Galapagos Islands by hiking, snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, and using all of our senses to not only see but also hear the animals’ unique calls, to touch the plants, and in some cases, taste their leaves, berries, and flowers. We closed our eyes to listen to the sounds and to smell the freshest air imaginable. At night, we saw the stars of the Equator in the pitch-black sky and slept on comfy beds amidst the rocking waves. We learned about each from scientific and cultural perspectives because of our amazing guides, Rafael Pesantes and Carolina Pesantez, who were kind, patient, and fun. I miss them and appreciate how they taught to appreciate the majesty of the world we live in. I also must thank CNH Tours is the premier travel service to help you travel in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Heather and her staff helped guide us through the maze of options when choosing how to travel to the Galapagos Islands and helped us pick the perfect ship and itinerary. Every detail was attended to and every question we had was answered thoroughly, politely, and quickly. Heather and her team were very invested in our having a good time. She had great advice about everything (even clothing!) and never steered us wrong. She touched base with us during our travels and de-briefed after. We travel a great deal and CNH Tours is hands down the best, most personalized service we have had the pleasure to work with; we can’t wait to book another trip back

There are not enough superlatives to describe the unforgettable experience of traveling on Quasar Expedition's "M/Y Grace" throughout the Galapagos Islands. Personal attention is guaranteed. The yacht itself has a great history, from WWII to Aristotle Onassis to Princess Grace. The service and food were superb - beyond our expectations. A shout out to Edison Jaramillo, David Ramirez, our Captain Jimmy Jiminez and all of the friendly and accomplished crew. Snorkeling, kayaking, hiking and ecological tours were the best. Our two National Park naturalists, Alex and Lourdes, were remarkable in their knowledge of history, ecology, biology, flora, fauna and geography. Our nightly briefings were astounding in the abundance of information we received about each island and what to expect. They were very aware of each guests capabilities. I was healing from an ankle operation three months before. A few of the hikes were challenging, walking over boulders or lava rocks. Alex, one of the most experienced naturalists on the islands, often lent his helping hand to guide me through the rough spots - which was much appreciated. And, Lourdes took me on a half-hike the first day to a spectacular ocean view with iguanas, crabs, flying birds and crashing waves. Don't worry if you can't do it all - but try to. If you only go to the Galapagos Islands once in your lifetime, treat yourself to the M/Y Grace. It's exclusive, personal, delicious and totally magical. Absolute perfection!
