What travelers are saying
- Luca CBrussels18 contributionsThis year I had my second experience with Oxygene in Val d’Isère and had a great time. I already took a beginner class last year and was overall happy with it, particularly appreciated the organisation and logistics spotless.
This year I was assigned to a new teacher, an Italian guy called Edoardo, and it was an excellent learning experience. Edoardo has been a fantastic coach, extremely clear in his explanations, detailed without being overbearing, supportive, friendly and fun. He was able to convey the passion and fascination for this beautiful sport. He pushed me at the right time and kept it enjoyable throughout. I made a lot of progress in just a week and owe a lot to Edoardo’s user friendly and smart approach. Thanks a million!!
My 6 yo son also took a group class with another teacher called Andrea, again - he did a great job, first in persuading my son to get on the skis and then in motivating him so well during the week - at the end my son was so proud of the progress he’s made and the little bear medals he got. A big, big thanks to Edoardo and Andrea and a big thanks to Oxygene too as once again the whole logistics, organisation, payment etc were spotless. Looking forward to the next year!Written March 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Gradual, undulating, rich in detail, colour and scenic sub-genres. cyclists, motocyclists and others carrying their drawing rooms as 'grey nomads'. Decent sign posting, crevices and other steep domains worth the route, sunny lucidity and eventually the 2.770 passage whci is among the most ipressive in Alpic terms. - Ric B2 contributionsAn incredible ski resort that I'd recommend to skiers, boarders and even non-skiers.
There's so much to do and see. Fantastic restaurants and bars.
We drove from London to the Alps in the excellent Polestar 2 electric vehicle and would highly recommend it for the views and to save money on flights.
Our accommodation from VIP Ski was amazing and central to all the shops and restaurants and only a few minutes walk to the slopes.
Favourite apres ski bars would be Cocorico and Folie Douche on the mountain.Written March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lea: offered exceptional service to solve m problem, thank you
! CON: the course was booked through a congress website. As such one would expect that lessons would dovetail with the lecture times toma accommodate members' work commitments. Unfortunately, the decision makes lacked the insight or willingness to provide a few instructors to accommodate congress attendees during the middle of the day. Pls plovide instructirs from 12-3!Written May 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This was great as it meant that we could get up the mountain early before the main rush but equally could get back into town or back up the mountain with the kids for lunch before the masses descended which is important given the amount of families out for half term.
The instructor “David” was great with the kids. Really came on over the week and although there was a day which was a challenge due to uncomfortable boots, he worked wonders such that the child that was crying when we saw him at snack time had a great big smile when they arrived back at lunch. They stopped for a hot chocolate / snack each day which was great for kids & was 2 euros so good value.Written March 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. On the way, you will see marmots and Ibex, grazing within 30m of the trail.Written September 24, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AliW058Portsmouth, UK18 contributionsWe booked ski lessons in Meribel through Ski Bro. Quick to respond and helped us find the right classes for two teenagers of different skill levels. Cancelled due to COVID and Emily really helpful in sorting out no quibble refund. I recommend them and will definitely use them again.Written July 4, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LENPHOTOGRAPHICTring, UK6,640 contributionsI went into the tourist office to register for the medal of loyalty to the resort. I had been coming here for over 35 years which equated to a silver medal. The staff arranged this and invited me to the ceremony on the thursday evening at the Hotel Savoyarde. I had been sponsored by John from YSE who I had used as tour operator for over 30 years. There was a reception with champagne and canapes, followed by the presenting of the medals by Monsieur Mattis and we all had to make a little acceptance speech. After that there was traditional Savoyarde folk dancing. Great service from the office.Written November 16, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tara K1 contributionAfter five years of coming to Val D'Isere and just skiing with friends and family, I finally took a couple of proper lessons. The TDC Group was highly recommended and we were lucky enough to get David Walker as our coach. Aside from being friendly, easy to talk to, and very experienced, he was a great instructor. We agreed we weren't going to tackle everything in two lessons, but I wanted to focus on my stance and position of my skis. By the end of the two sessions I felt like I had a better understanding of the mechanics of skiing, I had more control, and so much more confidence. I never felt over-faced, but David also didn't coddle me. I'm really looking forward to booking more lessons with TDC, and of course, hope that David will be available. - AcinetoAuckland Central, New Zealand20,170 contributionsWe had a ski pass from Tignes that also covered Val d'Isere so we were able to spend a few days here. You can freely get from one resort to the other on the piste, just keep an eye out for the signs.
Aside from the main area, there are a few base areas in Val d'Isere that has lifts that take you to the pistes including Daille and Fornet. It has really nice pistes as well as lifts and gondolas. The area is really large and the top of some of the lifts such as Grand Prix, have really impressive scenery.
The Pisaillas Glacier is on the far end by Fornet and has quite a nice area for snowboarding. Getting back to the main area from the glacier was a bit of a mission involving multiple lifts but it was enjoyable to go down.
There are plenty of restaurants near most of the lifts to rest. You should visit La Folie Douce on top of the Daille Gondola particularly if you like to party. It is also a nice place to stop for food (with a range of different price options). The main town also has plenty of food options if you were wanting to take a look around. If you did miss the last lift back to Tignes there is a bus that runs late in the afternoon.Written April 18, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
