- T Ladnecks6 contributionsChester Zoo is an impressive zoo with an extensive collection of animals. Despite multiple visits, the entire zoo cannot be explored in a single day. The zoo can be quite crowded, which can make it challenging for young children and adults to get a view of the animals through the windows, as they may be obstructed by other visitors
Due to the amount of cars, we had to park at a considerable distance from the entrance. As we had a disabled badge, we would've been better with a Spacious Disabled bay, but unfortunately, none were available. Consequently, we had to navigate through a congested area to park our car in a limited and cramped space, which posed a challenge for the wheelchair user. Despite circling the area multiple times, we couldn't find a suitable parking space and were on the brink of resorting to the grassy section for parking, which is the furthest spot from the entrance.
The food options were limited at the venue and only vegan hot dogs were available so we needed to have apple crumble flapjack, which was amazing, I would highly recommend trying it
Overall I think the zoo is amazing but is very busy so it is not the best for people who struggle with crowds. I would recommend that you take a few snack to keep yourself going and not to waste time as it’s quite a big zoo to explore.Written March 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Cathedral is also close to Chester’s famous city wall and its covered shops. There was no fee to enter but I donated the suggested £5. Inside there was no leaflet about its lay out, so I used my Batsford and Fry as a guide. Which was fortunate (as while other visitors photographed various parts of the Cathedral and its stained glass), I concentrated on the sublime wooden ceilings praised in the book and other articles. I only wish I’d had a better, more professional camera. The ceilings are worth the visit on their own.
The Cathedral also has a good shop and refectory - try the Eccles cakes with tea. An enjoyable day.Written March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Last time I walked on them I was at primary school and I’m now 68! We did this for my birthday in January when we stayed for a couple of days. Our Chester visits usually consist of a short trip to the shops by train from Liverpool so it was lovely to spend quality time in Chester. While walking the walls we witnessed a school party being marched around by a Roman legionnaire, I’ve never seen children so well behaved 😂, my husband and I were terrified 😂. It’s a lovely walk and you get a real feel of the history Chester is seeped in. - SolihullRichardDorridge, UK928 contributionsClose to the former Watling Street a legendary Roman Road, the clock is visible from Eastgate and also from the city walls and was installed to commemorate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria. - xTheWheelersxChester, UK10 contributionsVery lucky to live in Chester and have this on our doorstep!!
Have been multiple times just with my wife and as a family with our two younger children (9&11) but finally getting around to leave a review.
On this occasion we went to see Great Gatsby as a b’day treat for my wife… We planned for rain but was blessed with a perfect summers night!
Packed some nibbles & plenty of bubbly. Pre-ordered a pizza that we collected at the interval to help soak up the booze.
Great performance!!
Tips.
Preorder food if buying onsite
Recommend taking your own picnic & drinks
