Quite an easy walk, even for families with young children. It leads to the the Lago Smeraldo which is a nice setting for a picnic. The entire gorge can be traversed on steel catwalks and there is a guided tour.

Lake Tovel is a hidden gem nestled in the stunning Dolomites. The emerald green waters are just breathtaking, and the surroundings are nothing short of magical.
We spent a pleasant hour walking around the lake, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and taking in the scenery. The temperature was perfect for a relaxing stroll, and the only downside was the rather high parking fee of €18 in the summer. Even so, Tovel Lake is a must for nature lovers and those looking for a quiet getaway.

Parking available at the bottom of the hill at a flat rate, so you're not hurrying to get back to your car. A pretty steep walk to get to the castle entrance - not the greatest start on a hot day! Once inside the castle walls it was a great place to visit. Free access with the Trentino Guest Card, and nobody seemed interested whether you'd booked online on the Castle website or not. They just wanted to see the Guest Card. The staff were very kind and helpfully answered questions and gave directions to make sure that you saw everything and listened to the right tracks describing each room. The audioguide was definitely worth it and helped to present the castle as someone's home rather than just a tourist destination, and explained some interesting details of the family and history of the castle. The views were spectacular (so I suppose the uphill walk was worthwhile!) and the gardens were so peaceful. Plenty of opportunities just to sit and take it all in, both inside the castle and in the gardens and woods.

Park your car at Sanzeno and walk approx. 40 mins along the cliff side through the gorge on well trodden, fenced paths to this quiet monastery. Take a picnic in your backpack and visit Bruno the resident bear before exploring the monastery built entirely by the monks. Alternatively you can drive through the gorge to the monastery. Either way it's free to visit.

With clear water and possibility of fishing. There is a strange big boat, running through the lake. Couldn't find the reason. Probably some local folclore. Anyway worth a visit.

This is a private residence that has recently been opened to the public for touring. You can only see it via a guided tour but it is very interesting - the history of the castle and of the surrounding area. I am not certain if tours are offered in English but I have to believe they are.

    *** 2 important notes ****
    1. you buy your tickets in the small town of Tassullo below. Tours are at set times so you may have to wait a bit before the next tour. However, it is worth the visit.

    2. parking by the castle is only for people with walking limitations - thus, you will have to hike on foot a little ways to the castle but it is scenic and again, the visit is worth it.

The area surrounding the castle is very scenic - particularly during the summer and fall. Apple orchards surround the castle and the view of the surrounding area is beautiful.

Dont miss this hike when you are in this valley. It starts at the carpark opposite the museum and at first slowly goes past the apple plantations. Then you enter the rock zone - a trail hacked into the cliff where you have to weave and duck below overhanging rocks on one side and the abyss on the other. Thats less scary than it sounds as it has a wooden railing now — judging by the steel cables still attached to the rocks this extra security wasnt there always. Look to your left in the crevices and you can see that this is a pilgrimage walk of sorts. Handmade wooden crosses and pictures of people are lining the way. Finally you reach the hermitage, perched high above on a rock. Up there its a steep climb to several rooms of worship. The highest shows clearly the age of this place, with stone carvings and murals from medieval times or even earlier. Very special atmosphere, if you manage to be there early. We did not encounter foreign tourists so I assume this is a hidden gem.

Visited this place as I just happened to be nearby and needed to kill time. What a gem to discover! It’s a lovely little castle that (at time of writing) had an art exhibition which was lovely to view. The views here a lovely and the gentleman was very passionate and helpful. They also do weddings for an amazing price! Definately recommend if you’re nearby!!
