Great views from top of Cadillac Mtn. But remember to get you special auto pass required to drive to summit . ( different than park pass) Well worthwhile . Several areas require a bit of hiking so wear comfortable shoes .

I almost intentionally omitted a trip up Cadillac Mountain from our visit to Acadia because I feared it would be one of those heart-stopping rides up the edge of a winding mountain road, but it was not. I almost missed one of the most beautiful parts of the Acadia experience! The road is well protected at all the spots that it should be, and the road surface looks brand new. Even though Cadillac Mountain is not a high mountain, the views are gorgeous, and the overlooks are in all the right places. Needing to be online at specific times to insure getting a reservation was a bit nerve racking, but it was well worth it.

What's not to love? Biking the carriage roads in the interior of MDI are sublime. Away from the car traffic, spectacular scenery, access to places you can't get to by car. Don't miss the ferry ride to Schoodic Peninsula (Winter Harbor). We took our bikes on the ferry. Low tide and calm seas so we didn't see the monumental force of the ocean at the point, but we spent a lot of time rock scrambling. Also, there are some quiet trails on the SW side of MDI. Wonderland was gorgeous. We even did it at night for a star walk.

We took this walk on the morning that we were leaving town. It was raining. We only took the path until it stooped at the shore. We did not walk along the road. It was great to see some of the beautiful old mansions on the shore.

Very cool to walk across! Bar Island was fun to explore as well. Just make sure you are back over to Bar Harbor in time. When the tide comes in you can get stuck. There are water taxies to call, but I would plan your trip over there accordingly.

We were a bit concerned that the road would be packed - we were warned it was sometimes bumper to bumper. But we drove it just before sunset and it was pretty much empty. And we were lucky enough to come upon a momma deer nursing her baby off the side of the road! Spectacular.

This was a favorite for us! Beat Cadillac Mountain. The views are amazing the trial is easy. There are several places along the trail where you can sit and just enjoy the amazing views. There are several places on the drive where you can pull off and take in a view, but if you are able and have the time I highly recommend parking and walking the full trail. It will not disappoint!

My family has been traveling to Acadia NP for nearly twenty years and Schoodic Peninsula was a fairly recent addition to our usual itinerary. However, the drive over is well worth it. The cycling along the peninsula is among the nicest in the park (and much less busy than the Park Loop Road). I also especially recommend cycling on the gravel paths traversing the center of the peninsula. The hiking on the peninsula is not particularly interesting, but cycling and scenic drives are worthwhile.

We stopped for about five minutes to take photos of the pretty white wooden selectmen’s building (circa 1780) and bridge and their reflection in the pond, and to walk around the gardens. It was about 8:20am so the museum was not open.

Easy trail for families with kids. Goes along the ocean and gives you beautiful views. Lots of tide pools for the kids to explore.

A two mile hike through thick forests with a trail full of roots brings you to the water of Western Bay in Indian Point near Bar Harbor, Maine. It’s on the west side of Bar Harbor on Indian Point Rd. take care when hiking because the roots of the forest floor are plentiful, but when you pop out onto the paved (private) road, then cross over to the shore, it is worth it. A trail runs along the water above the rocky shore. We sat for several hours enjoying the late afternoon (5-7 pm) and watching the seals with our binoculars, although you could see them with the naked eye. Don’t bring your pets bc they aren’t allowed in the preserve. Before leaving the parking area, make sure to look at the 4 trees at the entrance. A marker on one of the trees explains that they were planted the same day Abe Lincoln was assassinated. There are no restroom or water facilities.

Fascinating hike. We we're a bit worried to go after reading reviews, but it was so much fun! For the first hike ever it was a bit challenging, but only in a good way. We really enjoyed it so did not we only completed Beehive trail, but also Champlain Mountain trail as well. Definitely was a bit challenging but totally worth it!

Unfortunately it was pouring the day we had to tour Acadia but we still managed to make the best of it. The Jordan Pond loop seemed to be one of the best options with plenty of tree cover to help keep the rain off of us. I mean we were still absolutely soaked but we had a great time and the weather offered a unique view that made for some amazing photos! I'd take that wet soggy hike any day over a dry sunny hot hike... loved it!

This is an excellent trail for casual hikers, kids, and those wanting to see beautiful views. On the quiet side of the island, there is ample parking as this area is seldom busy. The 1.5 loop trail is wide and well-groomed. There are some rocky parts that need to be scaled but they are not formidable. The trail goes through the woods and meets a lovely peaceful inlet. Continuing on the path emerges onto impressive rocky cliffs with beautiful views. What a photo op! The surroundings are generally cool and pleasant. Our kids had a great time.

This is a beautiful and fun hike that is moderately strenuous. The view at the outlook is amazing and well worth the short ascent up. The blue trail blazes are worn but if you look closely you will see them on the rock faces to help guide your way back down the loop to the parking lot.
