The day trip to dorze village with Tarik +251 92 561 6961 was a lot of fun. I wanted to use public transport but because it didn't fit my schedule Tarik quickly organized a motorcycle to go to the village. The ride was already part of the adventure. I was impressed by the buildings and beautiful scarfs the Dorze weave. To end our trip we even had time to visit the dorsso waterfall.

Miju was a stand up guy and you can trust him. He seems to know everebody in the town and showed me local places to eat and drink. I was a bit sick the day we visited the park, so I didn't see much else than monkeys and springs. Be sure to articulate your wishes clearly and I bet Miju will deliver.

We took a two hour boat ride on the lake, looking for the hippos & crocs. We were also rewarded with flamingos, stork, fish eagles and pelicans, just to name a few of the birds! It’s always nice to be out on the water, and this was no exception!

South Ethiopia Tribal tours definitely made our stay at Arbaminch memorable! The tour guide’s storytelling skills bought the history of the place to life.

The unique way to leave a real tribal experience is to join Emanuel in a trip. He can make you enter in contact with people in Omo Valley. Emanuel is very friendly and experienced.

We took a three-day trip to the Danakil Depression. We were picked up from the Semera airport and headed straight to Ahmed Ela, the hamlet near the Asala Salt Lake some 267 KM a way in time to enjoy the famous sunset on the Salt Lake. The drive was long but it was absolutely worth it as we drove through various landscapes, including the saline lake at Afdera, desert sands, and lava rocks. We then slept in the open air, on traditional bed frame made of wood and latticed leather strapping. Amazingly, the temperature was great, in the mid-twenties, very comfortable.
The next day, early in the morning we headed to Dallol, by far my favorite with the beckoning reddish brown landscape as we approached the fabulous sulfuric hot springs and complex salt deposits within a volcanic crater drenched in vibrant colours of bright yellow, red, blue and green. It was a truly spectacular, a sight to behold! Then we stopped at the Salt Mountains, a place with interesting rock formation, straight out of sci-fi movie. Before heading to the beautiful emerald green pool in the middle of salt pans for a dip and some fun.
After Dallol, web started driving to Erta Ale, active volcano. After a bit of a hike shortly after 1700. We then went down to the lava field to see the volcano up close when it was spewing. It was an incredible experience. At night, night we again slept outdoors s but what we did not expect was that it could get that cold at night. We did not sleep a wink as we did not have any blanket and who would have thought that we’d be his cold at the foot of an active volcano??
All in all, it was a fabulous trip. We travelled with a security and a personal chef in tow. The food was great particularly considering how remote these places were. Thanks a lot, to Wes of Gamo Tours for organizing the trip, for being flexible and for tending to all of our needs and wants, Ermias for driving us so safely (the only vehicle that did not get stuck in the sands), and our cook Tsegaye, who woke up at ungodly hours to prepare breakfast in the middle of nowhere, and lunch and dinner!

I’d highly recommend Gamo Travel Tours!

Best tour guide and a wonderful time on Chamo lake and saw the crocodiles. We saw different types of birds by the lake. The greenery and the view you get is quite remarkable. The lake and the city Arbaminch as a whole is a peaceful place. I really would like to come back and use South land tours as my tour operator and I had a great time with them.

My partner and I had an adventurous 3-day tour in Arba Minch with Abity. We visited Dorze Village on Day 1, a culturally rich experience. On Day 2, we went for a morning boat ride on Lake Chamo and saw a wealth of crocodiles! It was terrifying and beautiful at the same time, and we felt very safe. Afterwards we had a delicious fish platter (a must given the presence of Lakes Chamo and Abaya) and then set off to the forest for a 2-hour hike (where we saw three different kinds of monkeys) to our eventual destination: one of the 40 springs. We swam and played in the spring before returning back to the hotel. We had a lazy Day 3 and decided to have lunch at the neighboring hotel, Paradise Lodge. We then took the Haile Hotel shuttle back to the airport. It was a magical trip! Thank you, Abity. We look forward to returning soon.

All round excellent experience. We desperately needed transport from Hawassa to Arba Minch and I was fortunate to find Kassahun's details on a travel website. Despite failing to reach him the first time he called me back straight away the next day. No other hotel, website, tour group, taxi company etc were interested in helping whereas Kassahun was fantastic - agreeing for a driver to pick us up and do a tour, including to the Dorzai, on our drive. We wouldn't have made it without him! Our driver Yesak on the day was also excellent.

The next day when the hotel couldn't help to organise any tours that we wanted to do, within an hour of calling, Kassahun again worked his magic and arranged a boat, a car, all park access and kind, understanding drivers.

Couldn't recommend going through Kassahun any higher - he's friendly, interested, knows the region, and he organised everything for us at good prices. I hope to organise a hiking tour at some point soon.

We had a great and memorable cultural experience with 'View Ethiopia Tours'.

We have travelled all over the world but this is the first time we got to have multiple authentic experiences meeting tribal people and mostly felt welcomed in their villages, especially by the children. Importantly, we felt completely safe and you wouldn't know there is a conflict going on in the country based on our experience. Mieraf, our guide was great, and he picked us up at the airport and was with us all the way through our time in Ethiopia until we left the country. He was also considerate in taking our wishes into account ie by altering the itinerary to go to a bull jumping ceremony in a remote region of the Omo valley.

We would definitely recommend this tour, especially if you are keen to meet tribal communities as part of your African experience.
