The water wasn’t so full the day I visited and there was a load of children from a school group so it wasn’t peaceful BUT it sounded wonderful and was cooler and a cup of tea beside it was nice.

I lastly went this cage it is emberressingly big and large there are many saloons people gave any saloon a name from the history of Ashab'ı Kehf's persons and the dog. There are many kind of stones and jewelery there espeicially from marble. You can go through that slowly at a half o clock. And it is free for any people and suitable for any age; except for having obstacles persons.

This place is now a mosque so all rules like taking off shoes and wearing a scarf for women are valid but only if you go inside. However the place itself is very interesting as you can walk over the historical ruins on a glass platform and see them clearly.
The story of Prophet Daniel from the Babylonian times is also interesting. Prophet Daniel is a holy man mentioned in the Torah. He was brought up by lions as a child. He was called to Tarsus during a time of famine and brought prosperity to the city. The people of Tarsus didn’t want him to go back to Babylon, so he lived and died in Tarsus. His burial site wasn’t known until the Muslims conquered Tarsus and a grave of a man with a golden gown was found. Hz Omar knew it was Prophet Daniel when they sent him the ring they also found in the grave. There were lions on the ring which showed that they belonged to Daniel.

All of these ruins and the grave were recently excavated and are open to public now. As it is a mosque after all, there is no entrance fee. All of the historical places worth visiting in Tarsus are close to each other and you can see the old part of the city in one day.

A quick stop but worth a peaceful moment in this church. Sat a bit inside to cool off and enjoyed the simplicity of the space.

We visited Tarsus by train from Adana , about 45 minute ride. We walked from train station to the house and well of St Paul. Tarsus is a lovely city to explore and the well of St Paul is in the old part. At the ticket office you can get a brochure with information about the well and the excavations of St Paul's house. The setting in the garden is lovely and peaceful. From there you can walk to St Paul's church through the old part of the city. Tarsus is a lovely day trip from Adana.

Hard to find, get to village from the man road, take the right from the small garage up hill) keep going uphill till it starts to level off and you get fork in the road, rake the right and at the end of the road is a rebuilt Roman gate on the left, and a house on the right.

Through the gate and walk, initially the large flagstones are missing then the road becomes clear.

Take water and enjoy the walk.... and wonder where the road stated and ended.

Well worth the effort to find. The way back was easier follow the road downhill, to the left drive through the active and massive quarry and your back on the main road.

I stayed in a hotel close to the gate. The coach from the airport stops right outside it. Nice shops etc around the area and the bus stops for the airport transfers are near it and they are a lot cheaper then a taxi from Adana airport!
