Lovely walk around the reservoir through some ancient woodland, tracks and a bit on the quiet road. Was a bit muddy in places and a few tree roots to negotiate, but not too bad.

Demesne Mill is our go-to place to park if we are coming in to do a walk from Wolsingham. There are plenty of great walks from there - up to Baal Woods, along the river, over towards Tunstall Reservoir. The park is pleasant, with benches to sit and admire the view. Its popular with dog walkers.

The heritage line is a great way to get around Weardale the views are epic along the riverside track. We stay in Wolsingham and found a great way to spend a Sunday book in the Black Bull Inn Frosteley for around 1pm you can then walk along the river path from Wolsingham to Frosterley which is beautiful enjoy your dinner in the Black Bull which is highly recommended and then jump on the heritage train which is directly opposite the Black Bull back to Wolsingham this makes for a great relaxed Sunday

We were advised the landlady is an acquired taste. She was funny, polite and friendly. Although not serving food that evening, offers to do a platter. We had discovered that there isn’t t much choice for food early in the week in the area. The real ales were well kept, and we were offered a taste of each before we ordered.
The locals were all friendly, and made a point of chatting. Came back the next evening, more of the same and our dog was made welcome. Again, we were included in conversations on the next table.
