We had an absolutely amazing experience at Daytona Go Karting! From start to finish, the staff were outstanding and incredibly patient. It all began with a phone call to Alex, who took the time to clearly explain the booking process and answer all of my questions with great care. His professionalism and friendly attitude set the tone for the entire visit. I explained my son has autism and will need extra patience and Alex was very supportive and reassuring and described all the ways they could help.

Once we arrived, the man who handled the safety demo was equally impressive. His patience and calm demeanor helped ease any nervousness we had, especially for my child, who took much longer than all the other children to put his helmet on as this was a huge trigger for him.

The support continued with the amazing Monty on the track. I cannot thank him enough for the way he took care of my son, he gave him the space and guidance to enjoy the experience fully, with a complete understanding of how my son needed to be communicated with. His demeanour was superior to many experienced staff in my son’s previous mainstream school! Very very impressive!!

This was more than just a fun day of go-karting—it was a positive, memorable experience that meant so much to us. We will definitely be back, and I highly recommend Daytona Go Karting to anyone, especially families with children who may need a little extra care and patience. Thank you, Daytona team, for going above and beyond!

Called in for a morning walk. It was very pleasant and worth the visit, although there wasn't much signage for the walks. Cafe was busy...not a huge choice of food, plenty of outside seating.

Visited primarily to see Pete Tong Presents Ibiza Classics which was excellent. We were able to get close to the stage and could make a quick exit at the end of the performance. The racing was an added bonus. The racecourse is about 15 min walk from Esher Station. Food and drink options inside and outside but quite expensive, e.g. £16 for Gyros, Halloumi and Chips from an outside stall which was quite average and not enough outside seating for the number of people. Pint of lager from an outside stall served in a paper cup £7.80. Minimum bet £2.50. I only saw cash being used for betting.

Very pleasant set of drinks, between 3.30 and 6.30 pm, with regular locals, at this micro-pub.

Directly adjacent to Claygate train station, so it’s ideal for investigative new drinkers, who can jump on a train and pay a visit to this venue, with great ease.

    Always a pleasant atmosphere.

Quick service, but the food was not great. The mozzarella tased gone off, which spoiled the whole meal. The coleslaw mayonnaise was dried up on the side of the ball, suggesting it was plated a long time ago.The café could do with some soundproofing as it echoed.

I've known Black Pond since childhood, well before the appalling, intrusive Esher Bypass - scandalously built to motorway standard without even an EIA - was cut through the area, an abomination that should never have been permitted through a SSSI. The noise wrecks the solitude that used to reign here and the filthy road has devastated the once distinctive wildlife.

The triangular pond was created to provide water for Claremont House - the dam makes it very clear that this is an artificial water body. You can just about identify the remains of an old pump house on the NE side. I'd describe it as sinister rather than pretty - a place for somewhat mournful reflection, perhaps - and with good reason, as at least one young lad is said to have drowned in its stygian waters. It had a bad reputation when I was at school nearby.

The pond was indeed used as a swimming pool, dating back at least to the 1890s, when this was the pool and skating rink for boys from Sandroyd prep school, originally located in Green Lane and later Sandy Lane. The Sandy Lane building was taken over by Reed's School after the war, which also used Black Pond as its swimming pool. There used to be changing huts at the foot of the dam.

Poorly controlled dogs are one menace; robotic, fixated joggers are another. I've never come across doggers, but then I don't lurk around car parks. Get rid of the cars and the car parks and you'll get rid of the social problems they cause.

After a hellishly busy morning, but a brilliant early lunch, I required exercise.

Weather was pretty good, so stopped off at Esher Common, on the way back from Cobham.

To the uninitiated - a cracking walk starts at West End Esher Common. Loads of free parking along the road near St George’s Church and the Sports Club Pavilion and Bar. The pathway starts near the West End Esher Common sign/board, then leads you in the direction of the main road betwixt Esher and Cobham.

If one so desires, you can then traverse the main road, and head for Black Pond on the opposite side, which is well worth a visit.

Pleasant Sunday chill out in the grounds of this historic Church.

Grounds remain well-groomed and maintained, with a plethora of benches, for one to sit on, and take in the relaxing ambience.

We celebrated our daughter’s party at Sandown in June and the team didn’t disappoint. It was well-organised, the food was great and the party room tidy and was decorated nicely. We were lucky with the weather and there was enough outside space for the parents to hang around and relax whilst the children enjoyed the activities.

Having visited Mini Me's countless times over the past 2 years, we love this place. Not the biggest soft play around but just right in size and well equipped. Such friendly staff, we love Terry & Paula always so cheerful and welcoming.

Wayneflete Tower in Esher was built around 1470 by William Wayneflete who was the bishop of Winchester. The tower is located on the banks of the River mole in Esher. It is a historical building that you will want to take many photos of.

7 Sept was one of the Heritage Open Days and I visited Claremont House. It is actually a private school called Claremont Fan Court School. Entry was free. The guided tours were booked but you could do your own tour, which is what I did with a very clear plan to find my way around and plenty of handouts. The house has a lot of interesting history and was built for Clive of India. The house before Clive's was designed by Vanbrugh for Vanbrugh to live in but Clive didn't like it, had it demolished and built the one you see today. There are some buildings by Vanbrugh in the grounds but I didn't walk around the grounds as it looked like rain. Princess Charlotte, daughter of George IV lived at Claremont with her husband Prince Leopold and sadly died there. Each room had informative information and there was a really interesting video in the library about the history of the house and its occupants. There were refreshments in the Great Hall which was also free. If you get the chance next year please visit. I travelled there by bus. From Guildford I took the 715 service to Kingston which also goes to Chobham. The service runs past Painshill Park and National Trust's Claremont Landscape Garden which is the stop before the school. The service runs every hour. Once I had seen around the house, I walked to the landscape garden, as I am a National Trust member, and had tea and a scone while I waited for the bus.
