- NicBangkok, Thailand5 contributionsBeautiful Waterfall is one of a kind. A long walk down to the waterfall take a bit of energy but it was really worth it. A restaurant only open during lunch is the best refill after the hiking back up from the waterfall.Written December 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BethBristol, UK1,167 contributionsLast waterfall on our trip to the Bolaven Plateau. We stayed at the Tad E-Tu resort so walked down from our cabin. Lots of stairs to get down, classically all very steep, slippery and the handrail is in some parts wobbly or broken. Nice waterfall but there are better on the loop.Written February 8, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AprilinVietnamPerth, Australia834 contributionsWe were delighted to discover the Champasak Tourist Information office on the river side of the road just north of the roundabout in Champasak. Its a brown wooden building on stilts, not the one in the photo here.
There are excellent displays on the walls all the things to do in the area and leaflets with information and local maps.
Son, who owns the business, is a lovely, very helpful man who speaks reasonable English.
Son organised a boat trip for the day on the river for us and our bicycles to Meuang Kang Vat and basketweaving village, Tomo temple and Don Daeng Island for cycling and lunch and a swim at the resort with an excellent boat man who escorted us on shore forthe first two stops and waited 2 hours for us at the third stop. US$50
He also booked a private car for us from Champasak to Pakse LAK 600k
and tuk tuk to Vat Phu 250k for 2 people including 2 hour wait (more for extra passengers due to fuel cost).
Son recommended Home Made Restaurant for dinner which turned out to be our best meals in Champasak.
We found Son's prices for transport to be significantly cheaper than our guesthouse apart from the tuk tuk for which prices seem to be fixed between all the drivers.
The information centre is officially open from 8am to 5pm but is often still open till 6pm with tourists still coming in.
