... coast to San Pancho - which is really worth it by the way - but Las Animas is a 20 minute drive down to Boca de Tomatlan (you can also take the water taxi from Los Muertos Pier) and then a 10 minute water taxi.
We got a tour that took us to adventure park and las animas ....the beach was beautifull and we relax and ate delicious food at the restaurant by the entrance of the adventure park which is by the end and even the...

There was an open bar, a volleyball net, ample beach bags to lounge on, kayaks, paddle boards, and great scenery.
We got to see tons of different fish, sting rays, and some eels... Yelapas could have been cut short by an hour and had more time spent at Majahuitas.

We even took time to visit after lunch a tequila distillery Mama Lucia and did some tasting of real nice tequila tasting by exploring along the river and seeing typical mexican housing, wonderful!
We then went to Colomitos beach and took a short hike (fine in flip flops) on a path through the jungle along the seashore to a deserted beach known as Madagascar for a swim in the beautifully clear sea.

... sandy beach boasts moderately high waves to play in, beach chairs to sit and sip at, and a variety of activities including paddle boarding, kayaking, para-sailing, and, of course shopping from the beach vendors.

Boca de Tomatlan Beach

It was awesome - the scenery is stunning with the green rolling hills, turquoise waters, rocky cliffs, and small, secluded beaches.
Boats in the harbour are loaded with supplies for the little bays to the south which are only accessible by sea, which is fascinating to watch.

Playa Colomitos This is a place where the only way to get there is by boat or walking by the mountain path which I recommend because is breathtaking and you can watch parrots; chachalacas; and some times tarantulas.
Most visitors took water taxis from Boca de Tomatlan to the beach, but if you're into fitness, the hike to Colomitos was a great activity.

we had made the hike on a weekend and were still able to find a spot on the beach, thanks to the local amigo we had good music and the water was so clean and calm for swimming, great day.
We hiked from Boca to Las Animas on the jungle trail and Colomitos Beach was the first stop on our hike.

... at the sport but that didn’t detract from the fun I had during my numerous wipeouts, the amazing views of sun and surf, and the very welcome shrimp cocktail that followed at one of the beachside restaurants.
He offered us the best table in the restaurant, which included a million dollar view of the ocean and cool breezes provided by fans to assist with the heat.

A gorgeous little village, horseback riding up narrow, winding canyons to a gorgeous waterfall, where we were able to sit, relax, enjoy a couple of cold Coronas, some out-of-this-world chips, salsa and guacamole.
From Boca to the waterfall is about 9km but you can grab a water taxi at Boca and get dropped at Las Animas or Quimixto for a 1.5 hour or 20 minute one way trek.

It's a cute little village with a flea market, lots of great places to eat (try Fat Boys... great margaritas and tacos!!) And small village feel with all the same amenities as down town Puerta Vallarta further south.
There is also a quaint market just off the beach at Centro where you can find many treasures such as glassware, pottery, Mexican blankets, dresses, t-shirts, jewelry and more.
