What travelers are saying
- BWGINVTBurlington, VT228 contributionsGreat place to see, hear, feel, and smell the sea. Lots of guys surfing, and a few people on the beach in Late September. Great place to visit. Nice long walk if you choose.Written October 1, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Cris SGuimaraes, Portugal7 contributionsWe were amazed and suprised when we found this small beach. It is so beautiful and calm that it feels that you are in a paradise.Written September 3, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- LuÃs APorto, Portugal32 contributionsVery nice place, small but very cool for kids. Has also kid stuff like net cradles. Makes them dream a bitWritten October 2, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Francisco Jose Fernandez SanchezLas Rozas, Spain332 contributionsAfter visiting the La Toja product store, turn around and contemplate this wonderful hermitage and take a quiet walk through the park that surrounds it.
Formerly there was a hermitage on the island that was only accessed by boat. later this church was modified, enlarged and completely covered with scallop shells.
Creating a unique temple since the scallop was a phenomenal insulator from marine humidity and that is why it was often used in the houses closest to the sea.
In this Ermita da Toxa devotion to the Virgin El Carmen, patron saint of sailors, is kept. The hermitage is commonly known as the Chapel of the Shells.
I don't know when the hermitage opens, when I went before lunch it was closed
Right next to the hermitage there is a viewpoint to contemplate the part of the estuary that overlooks Villagarcia de ArosaWritten September 21, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - nb888Nottingham, UK322 contributionsAfter annoying restaurant staff at 4pm who were finishing lunch, with our drinks order, we went down here to look at the rocks. It was kinda a blink and you'll miss it moment but I guess there are some rocks here and some nice beaches. This rounded off a nice circular walk from O grove to, erm, O grove where we saw many dragonflies and a fox run quickly across the road.Written September 12, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Francisco Jose Fernandez SanchezLas Rozas, Spain332 contributionsIn the last century there was an ancient spa where wealthy people came to drink the waters regularly.
In addition to taking the waters, then they took a lot of products, soaps, shampoos, colonies from the island of La Toja that had an international reputation
That hotel was burned in flames a few decades ago and there are barely a few walls left from its past splendor, in its place there is a modern hotel that continues to offer baths, massages and similar treatments.
And this new hotel kept the store in which those products were sold
The store is modern and spacious to buy, but the products are still the same quality as always, so do not hesitate to enter it and take everything you canWritten September 20, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Jamina On TourHulste, Belgium381 contributionsWe passed this museum during a little walk. Even though there was nobody there at all and we could just enter. There is some information about fishing hanging around.Written August 8, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- K AValencia, Spain11 contributionsWe really liked the aquarium; personally I don’t like to sea big mammals kept in small tanks like belugas or dolphins. Instead, there were fish typically found in the region. And an emphasis on ‘slow’ entertainment, enjoying the splendor of smaller creatures like seahorses and jellyfish instead of seeing kids normally whizz past making a beeline for dolphins. The bird of prey show was very well done and thoroughly entertained our toddler. The only thing I’d like to see is a bit more emphasis on the environment (less plastic) in the things they sold in the gift shop but the information about the animal endangerment was very informative.Written July 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- jperez5763New York City, NY33 contributionsA must see, fantastic. The area and the places to see are out of this world. The island is somewhat expensive but worth it.Written July 9, 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- SistaBlessLondon, UK75 contributionsI love history and architecture but this site is unloved and uncared for, strewn with litter. We didn't stop because of this. It would be a lovely site if it was looked after.Written April 13, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- f0urtysixcarrickfergus70 contributionsWe had our own fine craft called VISION ONE. with friendly staff. We moored along side the mussel and oyster farm rafts in deep sea water. the staff cooked up mussels and oysters were available at 10 euro extra. there was wine and soft drinks supplied. we got to feed the seagulls the mussels as they flew alongside the boat. they are skilled at hovering to pick the food from the palm of your hand (not fingers!) we just had a small group of 18 people The boat has a submarine section with viewing of the growing ropes with the mussels under the water also many fish swim past for the photos. We can recommend this boat VISION ONE.Written June 28, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
