- FLnurseERBoca Raton, FL5,621 contributionsWe came here early Saturday morning, around 8 AM and nobody was around. There is a large parking lot with a restaurant that opens probably at 10 AM from there you walk less than 1 km to get to the Zvikov castle. The grounds are extensive, very neatly landscaped with plenty of seats and lots of room for kids to run around for free. The interior of the castle opens at 9am, we did not go in, we just walked around enjoying the views from the castle walls onto the surrounding rivers. Just as we were leaving the souvenir stalls were being opened as well as a small coffee shop. I would recommend visiting this castle ruin complex not only to any family with kids, but also to couples or singles that enjoy tranquility with beautiful natural surroundings.Written August 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FLnurseERBoca Raton, FL5,621 contributionsToday is the 20th anniversary of the catastrophic floods of 2002 that caused unbelievable destruction in more than a third of the Czech republic. The flood has destroyed the bridge’s railing as well as a statue of an angel, but the main structure itself has withstood the unbelievable force of the rushing waters and today the historic bridge stands, beautifully repaired, in its full glory.Written August 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FLnurseERBoca Raton, FL5,621 contributionsIt is a joy to stroll around this picturesque city center with lovely historic buildings and flower decorations everywhere. Cobble stone streets require comfortable footwear but you can certainly rest your feet and enjoy the view at the many cafes and restaurants around.Written August 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - alex198876Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates204 contributionsBuilt on the river in Pisek it is a working water wheel electricity museum with lots of information about the history of electric power and even how the Czechs were very advanced in this area only narrowly missing the early patents to Edison in this technology ... small entrance fee and definitely worth a visitWritten August 5, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FLnurseERBoca Raton, FL5,621 contributionsA delightful surprise to be sure, this museum is a true gem, with thoughtfully arranged exhibits separated into history, arts, nature …and my favorite, local traditions, and regional activities in the past. Very kid friendly, I saw many little visitors excitedly pointing to the displays, clearly enjoying themselves. It was not crowded at all on the Sunday we visited. Signs are in Czech only and there are many steep steps to conquer especially the Fishing and the Gem and Gold mining exhibitions. Highly recommend for those without mobility issues.Written August 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jana CPrague, Czech Republic4,623 contributionsThis house is called U Cerneho Orla (By the Black Eagle). On the same spot there was a pub but in 1889-90 a bank building was built. Today there is a medical centre there. The house is very pretty, definitely worth seeing while in Pisek.Written May 28, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
