We drove up some rather windy roads to the free car park and then had a short walk to the Round House and the most amazing views over Monmouth and out over the Brecon beacons and South Wales.
The ancient woodlands surrounding the roundhouse are absolutely fabulous, our dog the mad Weimaraner Izzy was in her element chasing squirrels, her favourite pastime.
