- Tracy Elissa NMiddleboro, MA85 contributionsI was so excited to finally hike Mount Greylock this summer (a goal for the past 5 years!). At the Visitor's Center, there are easy hikes that loop back to the parking lot. At the Summit, there more rigorous hikes that are part of the Appalacian Trail. We hiked at the Visitor's Center than drove up to the Summit and did some hikes there.
At the Summit there is a gorgeous view as well as a stunning War Memorial. Inside the War Memorial is a narrow spiral staircase that you can take to the top for additional views. The staircase is very tight, but worth the climb if you're able.Written July 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Trail maps and signage could definitely be better though.Written July 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jimmy Sullivan13 contributionsGreat hiking, easy access. Good stop-off while passing through, I'll be back to really experience it! I will say it would be better if some of the access roads were a little more maintained, couple pot holes could have sunk our car!Written July 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BillCooperstown, NY189 contributionsNo signs on route 9 so use your GPS to find the turn onto a narrow local road that leads to a parking area. A few hundred yards on a well worn path brings you into earshot of the falls, then to the tranquil falls and pool. Relax, picnic, meditate. No amenities, just nature.Written February 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Niki SHolland, MA157 contributionsSo absolutely amazing!! Love the natural history here. We also took the trail closest to balance rock which was a low key trail.
But…..
GPS took us past the parking lot to Pittsfield state park. If you end up there, go to the office , they have typed directions :) very nice!Written October 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EuroVanWestern Mass.20 contributionsWe live just far enough away from Williamstown and North Adams that a visit to Mass MoCA, the Theater Festival, or other event makes us want to stay over night. This State Park is the ideal outdoor option, just a few miles north of North Adams. Recently updated facilities and a lovely wooded setting with pond are quite pretty; lots of ferns, moss and boulders.
Sites 2, 4 and 6 have unobstructed views through the tall trees down to the pond (and the sites across the road from them have a glimpse of the blue water, too).
Since we're spoiled by living in a place with no road noise, we'd rather not hear the vehicles on Route 8 and the street along the south edge of the park (not a lot of traffic, but the sound travels uphill). Sites 24 - 40 are down the hill so would likely be the quietest.Written June 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
