The park is a nice well-tended respite from civilization, with signs that help recall the area's history as a mill town and marble quarry.

Site 17 sits by itself one side of the paved path in a large area, very open for stargazing and listening to the river but sheltered with trees for enough tent privacy.

We wanted to hike a fairly challenging, moderate, trail and picked October Mountain State Forest as a good place to go.
We have also picnicked at the picnic area near the reservoir which was a very nice spot with picnic tables.
