We will definitely be planning a return visit as the Ashby canal offers so many route possibilities and the Ashby boat company made it so easy.
The boat was immaculately clean and tidy and what was a nice touch was a box of chocolates and a vase of fresh flowers were a welcome gift.

In amongst the houses of a village, it comes as a real surprise to find this peaceful historic site, with meadow, garden and the cutest little manor house.
We had a very good guided tour of the house from a friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk to costumed lady guide who made the place and its history come alive.

Have taken grandchildren every year for many years and the experience is always excellent, largely thanks to the very friendly and hard working volunteers who go out of their way to make it a special day.

Brought sandwiches and picnicked here this week instead of in the motorway services -great idea as we also had a lovely walk round the water and visited the local garden centre.
To complete a circuit you need to walk back along Reservoir Road to the car park , just be aware of traffic as it is a narrow but accessible footpath, also be aware the carpark is free but small !
