Mayan Kitchen

San Pedro La Laguna
#1 of 12 Food & Drink in Western Highlands
As a couple creating together a delicious vegetarian meal of hibiscus tea, Chilies Rellenos, tamalitos ,tortitas, guacamole, & mole de platanos for desert it was a genuinely marvellous Mayan authentic experience!
I would definitely recommend doing the cooking class, super easy to set up (we whatsapped the day before to arrange everything) and Anita is so warm, helpful and inspirational.

Thanks to Claudia and the wonderful staff for showing us how to make an amazing meal and making this experience so pleasant and fun! Truly a worthwhile experience!
When you take this class, you get to learn a bit about Mayan food and culture, have an amazing meal you cooked yourself (with the best view on the lake!), and meet an awesome woman, Claudia, the chef.

It was a nice way to take a break from walking around to learn something new, support a completed local business and of course, enjoy natural honey and honey products.
There is a small store where you can buy the honey and honey products like face cream, royal jelly, chap stick, etc...

Shangrila Coffee Roastery

San Marcos La Laguna

His head roaster Armando and me hiked through coffee fields in the mountains, met pickers amongst breathtaking views of the surrounding volcanoes and the lake.
We did an amazing walk-through of his facility, where he walked us through every single step of the process, from working with the local farmers, to the cherry selection processing, to hulling, to roasting and eve...

We stayed at four different places over 8 days: 1. Atitlan Organics - Tzununa Lake Atitlan 2. Lush Hotel - San Marcos Lake Atitlan 3. Hotel Hobbitenengo - Antigua 4. D'Leyenda Hotel - Antigua Atitlan Organic's Bam...
Fully equipped rooms, a terrace overlooking the lake, (perfect for a morning yoga/meditation practice- they even have mats, bolsters, cushions, and other props!), and the food was SO GOOD.
