We went on the informative self tour(the guards were also very informative and approachable with questions) and enjoyed seeing the beautiful rooms, lovely painting and fantastic views of the garden.

The castle was gorgeous to look at outside (with the moat and geese) and inside (all the lovely stone arches and stairs and beautiful roses in bloom), and there are some wonderful photo opportunities.
Although the edifice is impressive, the main benefit and in my opinion, the real gem, are the audiovisual show giving the history of castles in Ireland and the exhibits celebrating women's lives in the Medieval Ages.

I have to visit the castle on every trip to Nenagh as my cousins is the castle guide and he takes good care of the tourists, the grounds are well kept and the Castle as been renovated to accommodate tourists.
