I highly recommend this experience as a way to learn about the Garifuna ways which Uwahnie and others are preserving and teaching others about.

... end of the day I’d caught about 10 fish! (Which was super exciting for me :)) After an eventful first half of the day fishing we paused for lunch and had a delicious Belizean meal and then headed out snorkeling.
He was also an excellent teacher, and was able to teach this novice how to catch and land some big (and delicious) fish.

Kenny, Dory, and their staff make sure every guest has a wonderful trip, making us comfortable at all times. They took us to great places to snorkel, and the snorkeling equipment they have is in like-new condition.
With the help of our snorkel guide, a Hopkins local and experienced dive master, the crew found just the right spot for us to snorkel, in an area that perfectly sheltered us from winds and choppy seas.

Elwin and his crew took us out and we caught huge Wahoo and Grouper and won the First Annual Conch Festival Fishing Tournament! SUCH AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE.
Elwin and his crew are the best, great experience fishing and seeing the sites, nice boat and equipment, already booked another trip with them and would highly recommend them!

During the dive we got up close with several sea turtles, a huge stingray, lion fish, eagle ray, Moray eel, an abundance of reef fish, and what looked like a 5 foot nurse shark.
(And less $$ then the others too!) Whether diving the reef nearby (with two resident nurse sharks) or taking the bigger boat out to the Atolls, Hamanasi is the dive operation to go with.
