- SocccaTolmin, Slovenia1,806 contributionsWe visited Trevi on a very hot day. We left our car at the bottom of the town and then walked up by the steep streets to the main square. Due to the hot day we soon found a cafe where we could drink coffee in the shade. A very charming town!Written July 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- pregladNew York3,506 contributionsThere's a unique element of surprise involving many of Italy's more impressive local churches. Some are, from the exterior, ostentations. others simplicity personified. What happens inside bears no necessary relationship to what is seen from the first sightings outdoors.
Chiesa della Madonna does not prepare one for what's next. It initially disarms and than amazes. Located where it is, the splendor of all surrounding Trevi still remains uncompromised by the ravages of mass tourism, for which I am grateful, and to which a return will be sought.Written April 21, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Complex. The first section is about the history of Trevi from pre Roman times. This leads into a picture gallery with some fine medieval paintings and thence to a very informative olive oil museum. Most displays are in English as well as Italian which is very welcome. At the end of the ‘tour’ is the church - high ceilinged with some remaining frescoes and a beautiful apse. Trevi is not a big town and should surely be very proud of its museum.Written June 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was being used for some sort of exhibition when we visited. Very crowded but we still went from room to room checking out the paintings on all the ceilings. Very impressive. View from the garden in the back was incredible. Walk down the stairs to the left of the front down to see the back gardens and viewsWritten October 22, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert CMt Eliza, Australia460 contributionsTrevi is one of the many small walled towns in this part of Umbria and is attractive as it is not one of the major tourist attractions, is relatively low key and far less congested that others in the area. Parking is quite limited though so be prepared to walk a little. The Piazza Mazzini is the centre of the town with a number of cafes and restaurants that are well worth a visit. In fact we had one of the best lunches of our whole Italian stay at one of these,Written May 26, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Aussies11Montelparo, Italy4,471 contributionsTrevi is one of Umbria's hilltop towns and is definitely worth a visit. We started by visiting the Museum and Art Gallery which also houses this collection of displays, history, pictures, old equipment etc. of the centuries old culture of extra virgin olive oil, especially relevant in Trevi - well known for its EVOO. The basic process of extracting olive oil is also shown by illustrations etc. and the specific olive varietals cultivated in Umbria are explained.
The Art Gallery, the Archeological section and a small room displaying an ancient printing press are all in the same building, and by taking your time and seeing everything it gives an appreciation of how life was in this town many many years ago. The building is a former convent of St. Francis and the museum is accessible via the cloisters, where some wonderful frescoes depict the saint's life. By paying for entry to this museum, your ticket is valid for 15 days for another 11 museum sites in Umbria. Well worth the price. This three storey museum site seems to have some equipment for disabled people, but perhaps worth checking. There are elevators as well.Written December 10, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The way that the curators played with the workspace was interesting, like post modernist theatre, they seemed to be experimenting with the actual gallery being an exhibit in itself. The work of Dario Picariello and Vicenzo Grosso is superb.Written June 19, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ERIC WKnoxville, TN4,409 contributionsBeautiful little church located near the highest point in Trevi. Free admission so it’s worth checking out if you’re there for the day. - Lars PStockholm, Sweden3 contributionsWe go here every year with the family and it is such a friendly laid back place, with nice staff, lovely surroundings, great seventies architecture and just the right amount of services needed. It is a wonderful getaway from the often very hot Umbria days. The pool is very nice and almost never crowded.Written July 20, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
