What travelers are saying
- UmeArizona23 contributionsIt’s a pretty beach, but it’s way too busy and overcrowded. I stayed at Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach, which was only a 5 minute walk to this beach (which is why we decided to stop by). On the first evening of the trip, we decided to watch the sunset. It was a pretty and peaceful sunset, but there was loads of people around and lots of other things going on. Anytime we passed by the area, it seemed to always be busy and packed with people.Written March 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Y KToronto, Canada360 contributionsNice, quieter beach a little further away from the busyness of Waikiki. A short and pleasant walk from the centre of town. The sand in some areas is a bit rockier. It's close to magic lagoon which is very nice and good for swimming and paddleboarding. A longer beach as well so it's not as crowded. Another bonus is it is right in front of Ala Moana centre for food and shopping! Parking isn't an issue, lots available.Written January 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Llewellyn53Melbourne, Australia4,129 contributionsA good sized park located between Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head. There are frequently displays, free Hawaiian Band Concerts and today the Waikiki Art Fest, Zoo Wall Art and the Na Hula Festival all on the one day.Written August 7, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - romadaroWashington DC, DC1,480 contributionsI don’t get it. Waikiki Beach and Kuhio Beach run together and they are basically one and the same. Granted, there’s a sign near the Zoo designating Waikiki Beach and there’s another sign less than a mile down Kalakua Avenue designating where Kuhio Beach begins, but otherwise there’s no difference. Most people refer to the entire strip as Waikiki Beach. I think you’d be hard pressed to find anyone, other than locals maybe, who refer to or know where Kuhio Beach is. Oddly, the homeless seem to congregate near the big banyon tree, which is where the Kuhio Beach sign is located, so I guess that’s an easy marker between the two.Written December 26, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Llewellyn53Melbourne, Australia4,129 contributionsA nice stretch of sand that does get quite busy even though it is some distance from Waikiki's main beach. Rocky and her seal pup were here during our visit so parts of the beach were fenced of but that didn't stop swimmers swimming around the barrier once they were in the water. I guess you just can't educate some people. I do hope that at some future date the Natatorium will get some much needed restoration.Written August 10, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brenda D71 contributionsMan this place was beautiful sun was shining and the beach was almost empty we went in February of course. That made a huge difference. However you need to understand that you have a responsibility to the people of the islands. To follow the rules, clean up after yourself, and do not go into off limits areas. You think you have right to go into these areas but those rules are in place to protect the land show respect and do not allow anyone in your party to go into off limit areas.Written December 10, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 建飴 石2 contributionsNice neighborhood beach, hard to get to, parking can be a challenge.
The sea breeze is nice if you come on a summer day, the green foliage covers the sitting area, you can sit there and very much will bring you back in time to a youthful and worry free day. Winter can be a bit cold though.Written December 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Just be respectful of parking. Remember, this is someone’s home and neighborhood.
Reading reviews we didn’t bring our bathing suits because we thought it would be too rough for us to swim, but I honestly regret that now. I think as long as your safe about it, it would be easy to snorkel.
Lots of people jumping in, taking photos, spear fishing. Beautiful spot!Written December 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Near Diamond Head Lighthouse is a nice small and private beach about a 30min walk from Outrigger Waikiki if you follow the coastline towards Diamond Head Lighthouse. Good snorkelling spot or just a swim. The park next to the beach offers welcome shade when you want to get out of the sun.

It has much less of that hectic feel to it than does Waikiki. I was lucky enough to see two seals swimming in the water there who then procceeded to climb onto the beach. Really fun!! The water was warm, calm and clear. Another perk is that it is right next door to a cute little aquarium that I took my daughter to, which she loved. It's not one of those strikingly amazing looking beaches, but if you just want a nice, mellow time, I would recommend this beach. I took a public bus to get there which stops right at the aquarium with the beach to the left. It took about 25 minutes from Waikiki. Enjoy!Written September 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- geoffrey100Boston, MA180 contributionsIts a beautiful walk there from the crowded Waikiki beach area. We got there at midday and there were few people on the beach. Its a place to sit and reflect. It is not a swimming beach as the waves are strong.Written February 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Beach Bum Oasis TravelSouthaven, MS274 contributionsBeaches are my 💙. Clear beautiful water. Nice waves to enjoy. Great for snorkeling. There’s a lagoon for small children or for wading. Not too crowded like Waikiki Beach. There’s a shower and bathroom near by. Two volleyball nets close by as well.Written January 3, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
