My wife got her leash stuck on coral and was scared for a bit but Keaton went under the water to untangle her safely and gently encouraged her to keep going and we both had a great time. Very very happy and appreciative of the entire situation, and thankful that they took care of my wife. Highly recommend. So did my teen-age girl. Pauli provided a great balance between instruction and encouragement. - Peng D1 contributionWe had an amazing time at our surfing lesson with Ke’ale! She was the best instructor, so supportive and enthusiastic. It was our first time surfing and she helped me stand up on my second wave! My dad had some trouble at first but Ke’ale was very patient and worked closely with him so that he could stand up by the end of the lesson! We were nervous to try out surfing in Hawaii but Stoke Drift made it such a fun and amazing experience!! Also shout out to the photographer who was super energetic and took amazing photos of us and to Cody who took time while teaching to get me on some waves while Ke’ale was working with my dad! - Caleb N3 contributionsBooked with a friend for 2 hours because we were looking for 1:1 instruction. Shane and Neil were awesome. Each of us got time with both instructors, so had constant feedback and direction for each wave we pursued.
Shane and Neil are long time surfers and experts in their craft. Real nice guys too. We arrived at the beach, learned how to use the board, and then dove in. It was such an enjoyable experience, from a local surfer! Definitely recommend. - Leslie2 contributionsI highly recommend this activity and I would do it again. Aaron, Russell and Connor were fabulous! They explained how we need to paddle first and we paddled out to a good spot. Paddling over big waves on the way out was fun. The best part was of course catching waves and riding them towards the shore. I got drenched. SO refreshing each time. The guys were generous bringing us out more times and for longer to get better waves. I really appreciate that! Doing something active on the water right away in the morning was a great start to my day.
TIPS: meet at towel stand by the pink umbrellas. They will hold your belongings. On arrival everything was well organised with detailed briefing safety video. Surf instructor Luke was amazing and our teenage boys had an incredible time. - Michael V1 contributionWe had the best time with Surf HNL. The staff were very helpful, enthusiastic and patient. They took extra time to explain everything and how to stand up on the surfboard prior to getting into the water. The waves were larger than average for this time of the year, but the staff helped us get past the breaking waves. We paid for two hour, but we only had energy for one hour of surfing. They offered to refund us for the second hour, which I found extremely honest. We declined the refund. - Stacey H1 contributionShane and Neil were awesome! Saw lots of turtles within an arms reach. The surfing was also incredible, I’ve tried surfing once before and was never able to stand up on the board - they got me standing up on my first try! They are also able to take photos and videos on a GoPro for a small fee which was totally worth it. Cannot recommend them enough. I come from a surfing background, but wanted some confidence after a long break due to injury & also unsure re the reefs out front as haven’t surf here in a while.
I had Skylar as my instructor & he was unreal.
We picked a day that was ideally larger swell since I could already surf, he didn’t treat me like a beginner at all.
Super supportive when we out the back calling me into some sick waves!!
Pretty sure the camera guy was Mitch? Sorry if incorrect but he was also a sick guy.
Skylar was such a chilled guy & we had some good chats in our session. Felt like I was surfing with a friend than an instructor. Super happy I picked him to surf with.
Highly recommend stoke drift for all levels of surfers but also highly recommend Skylar!!
