I highly recommend doing the submersible scooter if you're interested in seeing upclose all kinds of marine life, friendly fish, and sea turtles! It's a little noisy in the helmet when you first get into it, but the noise goes away as you go deeper under the water. You can maneuver the scooter yourself with the throttle, and the divers were close by to point out a sea turtle. The weather was just gorgeous when we went out, and the water was warmer than the pool water at our hotel! They were friendly and considerate to all boarders and swimmers. The three guys in the canoe were so caring and considerate. I went by myself, and was told in advance that they might have to send me up with someone else, depending on conditions. I was absolutely fine with that - figured I'd be able to convince someone to go up again for free!
Two people in my group did not speak English, but the instructor was fluent in their language, and was able to communicate easily with everyone, so that we all knew what to expect. Incredible views, friendly and FUN instructors/boat captains, and an all-around good time.
So why only 4 stars instead of 5?
The lady who greeted me at the front desk was not very friendly. She seemed irritated, like my presence was preventing her from beating the next level of Candy Crush or something. - Calum3 contributionsI've dove with Big Kahuna a few times now and I can't say enough good things. Greg and the rest of the crew are kind, knowledgeable, and safety-minded. It is also featured in their brochure where you get 3 activities for $99 + tax If you book online at southpacifichawaii.com it's only $89 + tax. This is a best deal in town. My son is 17 so we spent the entire day on the water. The skipper for bumper tubing was awesome and my son had an amazing time bumper boating and tubing.
I was up next for Jet Skiing and I was able to hit maximum speed on the jet skis. I love to jet ski! I stay in Hawaii Kai when I visit Oahu so there are no issues with transportation getting to and from the Marina. If you are visiting, I recommended a car rental. There is plenty of free parking at the Marina. If you have to wait there are plenty of shops, Coconuts Shave Ice and Leonard's Malasadas at Koko marina.
