Star Beach Boys were a prickly bunch as previous reviews stated. We hired beach umbrellas from them on numerous occasions during our recent stay. One stand out was Jason, nicest, friendliest staff member, he mentioned to my husband he was in charge of the Outrigger canoes. I guess like all jobs you have your good days and bad days, nice clients and awful clients. All in all we would recommend these guys to hire from.

We had the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream of riding the wild surf in Hawaii this fall. With the help of the outstanding staff of the Ohana Surf school we were shooting the curl in no time. They were so patient and took the time to make this experience a dream come true. Dont wait to follow your dreams and catch as wave. You will sitting on top of the world. Dennis and Marilee

Just as the other reviews have noted Thomas is a terrific instructor. Knowledgeable and personable. He made our family feel comfortable jumping in the water and paddling out with him. We each were able to ride a wave or two thanks to his help. Capt. Dan was also very kind and personable. They made our morning on and in the water very enjoyable.

Tata was an amazing tour guide! She was very knowledgeable about all areas of the Island. She was very accommodating with our needs and timetable. She took lots of pictures of us with the scenery in the background. This made the trip for us since they were the only pictures of us on the whole trip! We felt very fortunate to have had Tata as our guide. This was our first time to Hawaii and we felt we got a good view of the island with her narrations. Thank you for making us feel so valued as customers and making our trip so memorable.

Not sure if this place is changing ownership or what, but used to be called Volcanic Climbing and Fitness and had a smaller sister location in Kailua that is more dedicated to climbing. The Honolulu branch which is tentatively called Climb to Fitness offers more amenities that you would expect from a regular gym. They have no top-roping climbing, just bouldering, which can be busy in the evenings and on weekends, to the point where it's chaotic. There are also no rules about children, so on weekends you can often see toddlers playing on the crash pad mats and kids running around. I wish they established a better system for this.

The rest of the gym is adequate. Good standard machines and cardio room. Yoga room. Pool and spa, ice bath, sauna, steam room.

The whole thing could use some TLC, big time. A fresh coat of paint downstairs and in the locker rooms would go a long way! Some fake plants or ANYTHING to make it feel less dumpy (for lack of a better word). Ceiling tiles missing in areas showing exposed pipes. Flooring only partially finished in others. Hopefully the change in management (?) or whatever is happening will mark a new era of improvements to the aesthetics and general feel, since this place really could have a lot of potential under the right direction.

There is no better way to slow down and take a moment for yourself whilst enjoying the beauty of Hawaii, than to take an ice bath on the beach with the wonderful instructor, Valeria Loli! She patiently guides you through breathing and focusing on the moment before taking the plunge. She teaches you how strong the mind can be and what you can overcome. It was such a wonderful experience and leaves you feeling more powerful and rejuvenated than you could imagine!
