The Iolani Palace tour makes complex political, cultural and economic history interesting and accessible without oversimplifying it. I loved it (and cried a little when they played a beautiful version of Aloha Oe at a key moment in the self-guided tour). Honestly, I’d pay to have permanent access to the tour audio to go with their lovely online virtual-reality walkthrough of the palace.

Great museum featuring a three-story hall dedicated to Hawaiian history, and an identical adjacent hall illustrating Polynesian history and migration. A separate building highlights kid-oriented exhibits. A great rainy day activity - book your tickets online for a small discount on admission. A decent amount of parking available.

Our family of five from Texas and Oklahoma visited Oahu and the Big Island for Spring Break! While at Pearl Harbor, we visited the Bowfin Submarine. The submarine has been well maintained and we enjoyed our visit. It was interesting to see the technological advances of our submarines today compared to the Bowfin. Would recommend if you are visiting Pearl Harbor!

Our family of five from Texas and Oklahoma visited Oahu and the Big Island for Spring Break! While at Pearl Harbor we decided to get in all four sites. We did not have a lot of time for the Aviation Museum since that was the last site we went to, but had one hour and felt like we saw everything without too much of a rush. The museum is not too big but has some very interesting displays. Our family enjoyed the documentary, “East Wind Rain,” that played in Hangar 37. I was surprised that Hangar 79 still had the bullet holes and broken windows from the bombing. This just added to the experience of our visit. “Takes you back to the day.” The visitor center is very nice and our grandsons picked out some nice souvenirs, although there was one worker who was very rude. The store did not close until 5:00 pm and it was 4:45 pm and she kept telling us we had to leave and that our bus driver was going to leave us because she was ready to go. The store worker got even angrier when I explained our bus driver told us we had until 5:00 pm And alas, we were on the bus by 4:55 pm and did not leave until 5:05 pm. Other than the rude worker we had a great time and I would recommend visiting while at Pearl Harbor!

This was an educational and enjoyable visit. Our docent was great, answered lots of questions. We had a small group and that was nice. We enjoyed the interiors of the buildings and really got a sense of how the early missionaries lived and worked 200 years ago. It’s a great visit, see it with the Iolani palace and it brings the story together. Booking ahead is helpful.

Located in Waikiki, Lucoral is a hidden gem. I enjoyed learning about the history of gemstones and pearls in Hawaii..Pearl Harbor/Pearl and Hermes Island..The
fossilized dinosaur egg and beautifully carved gemstones were fascinating.
