We love Father Kim and his congregation they are the most welcoming and kindest people on the island ,and we love the traditional Hawaiian Mass celebration which we found very inspirational !
Father Kim recognized us each time we returned and would remind people of each place we travelled from in Canada when we would move and then vacation from our new home ! The ocean side of the building is completely windows. Ceiling fans keep it cool. The people are friendly the children’s program is delightful.They have an open choir which means anyone who’s coming to visit can come to the church at 9 AM Sunday and rehearse with the choir before the 10 AM service. They have Saturday evening 630 service. And as 7:30 AM Sunday morning service as well
There is also moving meditation yoga classes singing classes all available for a donation to the food bank that’s on the property. There’s preschool as well
Open excepting congregation all are welcome. As soon as you step onto the grounds, you are approached by staff. Very friendly. They explain what this temple is to the Mormons, and they explain the rudimentary principles of their believe. This without trying to convert you. Just explaining, so you can understand.
When we were there, most, if not all of the staff was young, international, en female. The church is very close to the hotel that I would go to church whenever there was mass and I was blessed! You can drive right up to it and just hike the nice mountain trail up to the top lookout and pill boxes. - Chuck GBirmingham, AL1 contributionThis place is singular in Hawaii: Novus Ordo Mass at 0700 Sunday, or, Latin Mass every Sunday at 1000, with confession and Rosary right before Mass (starting about 0900). Lots of regulars for both Masses, but also very easy to attend either Mass as a guest or tourist -- welcoming, down-to-earth people here. Thank you Fr. Was at Ilikai but now at Doubletree, 7 th floor.
Nice room, chairs, coffee and water. The music is outstanding and preaching too.
