- AstrobeemerVancouver, Canada1,362 contributionsHawaii’s largest open air flea market. Lots of vendors from clothing to souvenirs and of course food. The prices are fine but you have to be aware where the goods are made because the majority of them are made off-island and not authentic.Written November 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HarryKHIOsprey, FL896 contributionsSome of the folks that come bring local papaya, bananas 🍌 while some products are simply supplied by same provider delivering to Safeway. The way better one is @ Blaisdell on Weds @ 4pm.Written August 4, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- asiatrip2007WinnipegWinnipeg, Canada281 contributionsParking was crazy here and it was packed at 8am on Saturday morning. I expected more booths than there was. We ate an acaci bowl for$12. We tried Hawaiian coffee. We also bought some interesting frozen sausage, with pineapple I believe two frozen sausages for $10. There were good prices for fresh flowers but fruit and veg simular prices to grocery stores. We walked around the cactus garden at the college after. I thought there would have been more booths. We were done in under an hour. We took an Uber from waikiki and I believe it was under $25Written November 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pchnmainLA/OC943 contributionsLet's be honest: China towns came into being because it provided a place where Chinese could get familiar goods and services, and conduct business in their native language/dialect. But racism also played a role in the formation of China towns. Now that Chinese are not restricted to a concentrated location, maybe it's a good sign that Chinatown is losing its reason for being. (Maybe?)
I read a lot of stories in the news about Honolulu's Chinatown. Primarily, stories about Chinatown's history, decline and how it might be revitalized as part of a general downtown redevelopment plan.
Since I was on a walking tour of Honolulu's downtown, it wasn't much of a detour to check out Chinatown for myself. Frankly, I was underwhelmed.
There are a lot of older buildings, and businesses who are attracted to lower rents. But a lot of the products and services offered here can be found in newer, fresher retail situations.
If you want to tour Chinatown, you might as well pop into "Maunakea Marketplace"--but I wouldn't make a special trip to visit to visit this marketplace.Written September 25, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I stumbled upon this place while on n evening walk and bought a 6 pack. We went here for dinner on another night, buying a couple of pre-packaged items, and also got a couple of containers of poke
Their overall prices are comparable to other places and perhaps slightly higher, but consider it's in Waikiki and convenient.
They offer cooked food, poke, rice bowls, flatbreads, meats, dry food, fruits and vegetables, and beverages, etc.Written June 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We purchased several small gifts here, ideal for family members back home.Written March 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JBtravels37Bath, ME3 contributionsOpen Tuesdays from 9-12. An indoor market with excellent fresh inexpensive farm products, craft items, yard sale items, flea market, clothing and more, Vendors are friendly and knowledgable. I was told tables can be rented for very low price- $4
This is a new market replacing the thrift store the Community Center used to have. There was less than a dozen tables on the day I went with a varied inventory. Sometimes there are more tables and sometimes less. Great fun treasure hunting through the items for sale. This event is sure to grow as people catch on.Written May 9, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
