- PlantDoc4UT18 contributionsWe have season passes for the Discovery Center. It is an amazing place for toddlers and pre-schoolers. We took our two grands almost 2 and almost 4. They loved it. Tiny town has been redesigned and both enjoyed it. The Paw Patrol exhibit upstairs was nice to view, but little interactive value. A few things were out of order or not running (train upstairs), but there were plenty of things for our two to enjoy. Best advice is to go at opening or later in the day to avoid crowds. We arrived at 9 and there were a few families, by 10 three school buses of kids had arrived and it was very crowded and loud.. Most of the exhibits are not designed for older kids over 7/8. Outside the spring and boardwalk (now open) are great to see birds and other wildlife. The parking lot was full by the time we left. It's great to see the center utilized by the community, but it might consider limiting school groups to younger children and asking that there be enough adults to supervise.Written October 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tinkerbsbMount Juliet, TN897 contributionsI very much loved this location. Its in a warehouse so dont worry when you GPS directs you to a warehouse and says you have arrived. This place is busting at the seams with rocks, fossils, minerals and a couple places were they are cleaning off fossils they have brought back with them from digs. This I feel like is such a hidden gem but such a great place. They have plenty of parking and bathrooms.Written August 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John Wayne1 contributionThe pros:
The Murfreesboro Stones River Greenway is great for cycling. If you include the Battlefield portion and surrounding neighborhood at Cason Lane Trailhead you can get a nice 16 mile ride. It has great scenery in the fall and spring and enough bridges to alternate the terrain. Has enough shaded areas to help cool you down in the summer.
A decent number of benches are placed along the main portions of the greenway. There are a couple of places to stop and use the restrooms or drink from the water fountains. I try to ride the Greenway as much as possible!
The Cons:
Homeless people hang around certain sections on the Greenway. This has been an ongoing problem for years that the Murfreesboro police departed can't seem to control. I once had a drunk homeless man yell at me for playing music on my iphone. He thought the Greenway belonged to him. Being a man i'm not really concerned with the homeless as I could handle myself. But it could be a concern to women and children.
People walking dogs can be rude and disrespectful. Many of them will let the dog or multiple dogs stretch across the entire greenway path on a leash forcing cyclist to stop and then they look at you as if it's your fault for riding. They need signs reminding dog walkers to keep their dogs beside them. Sharing a caring!
The greenway will close for anything, it runs along the river and if there is a heavy rain there's a 90% chance they will close portions. They are often doing maintenance and will close miles of Greenway for weeks to fix a small part instead of creating a detour. This isn't a big deal to joggers or walkers, but cyclists want to ride as far as they can and it's a bummer when things are closed off.Written February 7, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Fresh delicious strawberries in late Spring. We brought our own boots (sometime it’s muddy) and the previous year bucket (save you $1 each pick). Need to come early though for it has become more famous and people pour in for the pick.
This farm never let us down. We pick one full bucket every visit.
