Craig Hockenberry: Steamtown National Historic Site was a great stop in Scranton, PA. The staff was amazing, kind and very helpful. The movie was very helpful and I had the chance to interact with several workers. Great place I highly recommend spending 2 hours. The exhibits were well done and I felt like I left there with an amazing understand of the importance of trains and the impact they had on America.

Nice park with a beautiful waterfall, but it suffers a bit from being in the middle of Scranton. There is some graffiti and litter, but if you can ignore those things then it is a very pretty place.
The trails are pretty easy, but they do get rocky in some places so it may not be accessible to everyone.
    Plenty of parking.

I never knew how important the trolley system was in urban America. The short film and the many trolleys on display were impressive. Worth the trip.

We love it here! It is always a great time. I'm not sure what all these negative reviews are about- I'm assuming they are from people who have close access to huge aquariums. This aquarium is clean, there are no empty tanks unless a new one is being set up. The staff are AMAZING! There is a touch tank with stingrays and horseshoe crabs, an eduction room they use to bring out large snakes and even the sloth. There is indoor parking. We have been several times and are not bored with it nor have we had a bad experience yet. Looking forward to going back the end of the month!

Scott, our guide, was excellent on the tour. A must see in the region. My teenage daughters stayed engaged for the hour long tour. Well worth the money. We learned about the harsh reality of work. ing in the mines.

Not sure if the lake is more beautiful in the fall or winter but year round this place is a quiet spot to relax and. Enjoy!

The staff was fine, Luca gave us a lesson and he was actually very good and patient. It’s wasn’t overly crowded, lines weren’t bad on the last wkend in January. Lifts had seated totally worn out and frayed cushions that could snag you. We all rented equipment and they didn’t have any ski polls! How do you rent skis and not have polls? With Covid no lockers available and that was not clearly indicated on their website so shoes and bags everywhere. We went tubing in the evening which was a lot of fun but the area could have been better maintained. Very icy at the bottom and my girlfriend hit a wall because you couldn’t stop. Staff should have been more present helping out and directing people so people weren’t banging into each other. At one point we were getting ready to go down when a safety team member was questioning an employee on an incident while she was working and supposed to be watching people before they took off down the hill ?!
Staff was friendly and helpful when asked.

An odd but enjoyable mix of artwork and taxidermed birds. Artwork greatly varied, not by prominent artist but fun, interesting and on many subjects. Very, Very good collection of what appears to be real stuffed birds, hundreds of them with descriptive names. Also they let us in for free with my veteran ID!

What a beautiful trail for bike riding. First and foremost, April from the visitors center was instrumental in helping me plan my rides. First, by sending me the tour book when I had trouble printing it at home before my trip and second, when I was in PA and needed more guidance I called her and she was so pleasant, patient and helpful to me. Truly a dedicated ambassador for this trail.
We did 2 rides in 2 days and both were magnificent. The trails are very well maintained and peppered with artwork along the way. Numerous benches and places to stop for a picnic and to take in the fall foliage. Beautiful scenery along theses trails. Highly recommend for biking and/or walking.

In many ways a quintessential dying mall, this mall also has a fun side. It includes an aquarium and a train museum. There’s a wonderful bookstore run by the local library. Of course, for my fellow Office fans, you can take a pic with the beloved Scranton sign. Check out the hot dog stand in the back of the food court: good food with good prices. Even with many empty store fronts, there are lots of opportunities to shop local.

The shows offered at the cultural center are fabulous! I have not seen a show I didnt appreciate. Seating is good. Pricing is reasonable and if you get a season ticket you save money all around. Usually they give you 3 days to attend and sunday afternoon offers the best seats.

The cultural center even offers special other events wine tastings and weddings all done fabulously. Space is great.

I believe they even give free tours.

The Courthouse reminds of some European castle in the Britain or the Low countries. It's a large and historic building that is graceful yet bulky. Surrounding it, on the square is various monuments to patriotism, jingoism and all manner of flag waving. In addition there is a monument to a labor organizer and the famed Lithuanian-Ruthenian military adventurer Tadeusz Kościuszko who was culturally Polish and remains a hero across Lithuania, Belarus, Poland and the United States to this day.

Overall this is a really amazing site to visit. You can look down in the furnaces and then also see them from the outside. However when I visited there was some sketchy activity going on, not sure if it was a drug deal or a paid hook up. At least five people just hanging around who were not there to visit the site. It made me really uncomfortable, so I looked and left quickly. As a single female, I was glad I had a male friend with me. I hope to visit again and maybe it will be different.
