- Kurt DPearland, TX3 contributionsThey were very easy to work with when we were making our selections. We purchased 2 bowls that look amazing. Thanks for sharing you art. - CycloneIowaHuxley, IA268 contributionsWe've wanted to go for years but we've been here on the wrong days and then COVID. The facility is beautiful and more than we expected. Mike welcomed us into the observatory with the group of other families.
The night started off with some videos on space and astronomy. They are an educational way to kill time while you wait for it to get really dark. After the videos, he gave us a presentation using the star wall they have in the observatory. I enjoy astronomy and learned a lot. We brought our kids and they learned a lot too.
Then it was up to the observatory to get to use the 16" telescope. You can get 14 people up there but it is tight. Be sure to dress like you will be outside for an hour. There are blankets up there if you need them. Mike did a great job explaining and truly has a passion for the stars. He was able to speak on a level that could be understood by kids and astronomy fans alike. The views were phenomenal. We saw several planets, a globular cluster of stars, a nebula, and all sorts of awesome things. The skies were so clear we could see satellites speed by. Just an awesome experience.
The observatory is a memorial to Mike's adult children who died in an accident. He took their insurance and built this observatory. It is obvious that it is a work of love.
Admission is free, but donations are gladly accepted. They use the donations for scholarships for Estes Park Students to go to college. Definitely book in advance and have a great time.Written April 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A great collection of different crystals, rocks, minerals, fossils, geodes etc. with wide price ranges. The shop attendant was super nice and friendly. You may also feed the ducks out back with the corn the shop supplies. Very relaxing experience, I would highly recommend this place.Written June 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mel M10 contributionsHighly recommend taking a tour of the MacGregor Ranch. Our guide Denny was so knowledgeable and really took the time to answer questions and tell the story of the MacGregor family and their contributions to Estes Park. Take the 2 hour tour with the kids - interactive with some of the tools used on the ranch back in the day.Written August 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - R G RWarrenton, VA23 contributionsLoved the store – a big surprise. With so many crafty shops, shirt shops & gift shops up and down the main drag in EP, it was a thrill to find a hidden gem there on the edge of town. Happily dropped a few bucks for a vase and glassware that was perfectly wrapped for cross-country shipment. We'll go back for sure.Written December 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Bob COlathe, KS3 contributionsReally enjoyed the tour, Eryn Mills is very knowledgeable about Enos, her great grandfather, and she was able to schedule us in at the last minute. I spent many weeks in RMNP and the Tahosa Valley above Estes when I was growing up and learning about its history and the man who is responsible for the creation of the park was one of the best parts of our recent trip.Written June 24, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David TShreveport, LA1,533 contributionsNot really a museum, but definitely worth a visit. There are quite a few interesting display cases and exhibits in the basement. I suspect that most of the negative reviewers didn't see the basement, which is easily accessible from the main lobby.Written April 27, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GardenerDaveAlexandria, VA21 contributionsOn a visit to Estes, after dinner at Claire's, we stopped in out of curiosity. Rachel showed us around and explained the measuring and ordering process (you email them a photo of your wall at home and they will photo shop how your wall will look with the image you are interested in buying). The process was easy and she was so helpful and informative, we purchased a photo for our home. Very pleased with our purchase; a great memory of Rocky Mountain National Park.Written July 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
