The owner is everything you want in a bartender - knowledgeable about local and Icelandic brews and culture, but also worldly and friendly. And the view from the bar’s balcony is spectacular. Take a little slice of home from this bar and the partnered pizza place next door, which is run by the brewery owner’s wife. The Gamla Kaupfelagid which means Old Co-Op was used then by the local farmers who came from their farms to co-operatively complete the annual slaughter. I am not an Icelandic farmer but I did do a season in the local fish factory and the Gamla Kaupfelagid was where we lived. It was then a warm commodious house, emimently suited to housing the season's crop of workers. It was simply furnished and there was a huge communal kitchen and dining area where lots of parties and hi-jinks went on over the winter I was there. The bedrooms upstairs were all pretty with floaty cotton curtains - mine were gingham, I think. And thank goodness, it was so snuggly warm thanks to geo thermal heating.

The team was very professional and safe, giving us a once in a lifetime experience for an expert rider (wife) and beginner/intermediate rider (me). They will also provide in-action photos and videos.
