Great experience. The guy who set up the kayaks for us (Blaine) was very considerate and very patiently explained what we should/should not do on the water. Good health and safety. Highly recommended.

There are only a few places to rent kayaks for a paddle on Lake Union or through Portage Bay to Lake Washington. Ague Verde Paddle Club offers a good price and a convenient location to paddle either East or West. We chose to head toward Lake Washington (East.) It was a lovely, sunny afternoon. I guess that meant every boat in existence in Seattle was out on the water that day. So, it made paddling a bit tricky, as you had to stay out of the way of the boats AND deal with the wake that they made. This would be difficult for inexperienced paddlers. We got tired of the traffic, so we headed over toward Lake Union, staying close to shore. This was more pleasant and relaxing. We love kayaking, so this is one of our go-to things to do when we visit Seattle. Also, if its a busy day (like the day we went) be prepared to get wet from the wake from the large boats!

I took a 3hour one-on-one novice surfski lesson with Rob and had a really great experience. Rob is hugely knowledgeable and also very patient with newcomers. I went in hoping to get the early tips that everyone wishes they had at the start of a new sport and Rob's lesson was spot on - stability tips, paddling technique, boat handling, boating conventions and etiquette, safety and gear info etc. My basic paddling in chop was going well so Rob also helped me make a start on wake riding and the concepts for down-winding. Once I get some more experience I'll be back for more. Thanks Rob!

Ivan was encouraging and pushed me a little bit to explore the edge of my comfort zone. It was my first time paddling, but have surfed for years, so being on a board wasn't too foreign to me. I had a blast and would definitely return!
