I was in Skagway with my husband as part of our NCL Jewel cruise and booked the Yukon Discovery via Alaska Shore Tours.
As we drove on Heidi told us that she was a teacher in her village which is located in the interior of Alaska and that she does the tours during the summer months.

We took the small bus tour on M&M Tours and it was reasonably priced and beautifully scenic.
This bus ride is a great way to see the sights of the train tour, but getting to stop at breathtaking views along the way made this even better!

Among the best tours I've done in Alaska
We definitely appreciated his geology background, where at various points throughout the tour, climbing, and hike, he shared with us tidbits of knowledge about how the different formations in Skagway came to be.

The coach was a 25 or so seat coach and there were only 6 people on our coach which made a refreshing change from cruise ship booked tours.
We elected to do the tour without the sled dog ride, but was still able to go to the camp and see the sled dogs and puppies because this is also where you do gold panning.

Okay, this was seriously one of the best tours I’ve ever done EVER, and it was hands down the best excursion we booked out of Princess Cruises to Alaska.
He gave us a narrated tour through downtown Skagway (don't blink or you will miss it) and out through the countryside to Dyea where the camp is located high in the mountains.

As first-time visitors to Skagway, we were SO fortunate to book a tour with Southeast Tours and get Brian as our guide!
These were smaller passenger buses and it gave everyone the opportunity to get off easily at every stop over those huge buses that are the norm when booking tours thru the cruise line.

If you are a small group (there were 8 of us), and want a personalized excursion without the size of the cruise ship excursion, trust in Skagway Float Tours.
Furthermore, the tours were very reasonable - an excellent value!

Our tour guide was Steve, he made our trip exciting and knew his way around the river making sure to point out eagle nests and telling us about the history and area in general.

We took some photos and enjoyed wide panoramic views on the mud flats, and then biked back to where we began to meet the next part of our tour with Skagway Float Tours.
This tour really shows you so many beautiful aspects of Alaska in three different ways, and to have tour guides that are so enthusiastic about what they are doing makes a tour 1000% better!
