Don't let the name fool you - this festival has EVERY kind of music. It's a very casual, fun and just amazing event with people from all over the world - performers and guests! The food is amazing, no cash - credit card/tap to pay only (including peanut butter & jelly sandwiches for those picky eaters). Fun drinks, including lots of tents sponsored by companies. We've seen Jimmy Buffett, Trombone Shorty, Stevie Nicks, Kane Brown, The Rolling Stones, Amanda Shaw .... the list goes on and on. The weather is usually H O T but it's worth the sweat. Bring a hat and something to sit on, maybe binoculars and a neck fan.

We returned to Essence again for 2024. It was once again an awesome festival for people of color. It was fun to attend all the events at the convention center. There was so many different speeches promoting positivity, business, health, culture, and many more. We also received the free gift bags and samples from the vendors/sponsors. We attended 2 of the awesome concerts with Usher, Janet Jackson and many more. It was just fun to be there, even if you don’t make it to the concert.
Plenty of parties and free entertainment at the convention center. We were here for 4 days. No violence or no hardheads, only black excellence.
We will be returning again for 2025!

Really interesting with some fascinating 3D video renderings of his work. The VR experience is well worth the $5 fee. This is not the type of experience we usually do but really glad we did.

Sam Kuslan was a great pianist! The art work in the museum was beautiful. The jazz bands were really good. There seemed to be a lot of food choices. I definitely recommend experiencing this if you can.

First time at VooDoo Fest and we will definitely be back. Missed the first day but sounds like that was a rain out anyway. Saturday was still wet but nice weather. And Sunday the weather was perfect. There were tons of great food and beer options. And the restrooms were plentiful and clean. Nice layout of stages, with enough space between them that they were not drowning each other out. People watching was like no other place.
We primarily came to see Missio and they put on a great show and we were front row.
    Some tips:
    1. Bike to the event. They have bike share in NO and there was a bike drop tent setup right at the front gate.
    2. Or Uber. They had a great setup for Uber to queue up. We did that the first day and it worked really well.
    3. DON'T PARK ON THE STREET :) We did this the last night to get a jump on traffic when we left. Despite no signage and tons of others parking where we did, we ended up towed. As did a lot of others we met who were equally confused why they couldn't find their cars. The violation when we got our car said "Special Event parking restriction 12 pm - 12 am". So unless you know for sure where you can park (without counting on signage) don't do it.

The first weekend in NOLA is considered the hottest in NOLA so everyone pulls out their white linen to be cool and comfortable. White linen night closes Julia Street and opens the art district for a great party and art-walk. Food vendors from some of the best chefs of NOLA, great drinks, interesting music and great people watching. No better way to spend a hot New Orleans evening.

New Orleans becomes a Responsibly Organized Booze Playground for a Week. Everyone in the Booze Business takes time out of their busy learning and hosting schedule to gather together and share stories and alcohol creativity. It's exciting to roam the streets and be surprised by who you might meet in the industry.
