If your visiting the city this is a great way to get around. The journey across is only 10 minutes with the ferry departing one side at 15 and 45 minutes and the other at 00 and 30.
You can go back and forth in just 25mins making a quick and cheap experience while in town.

The ride from New Orleans to Birmingham had little issues and arrived about an hour late.
There were significant issues with her return trip from Birmingham to New Orleans. The departure time from Birmingham was abut 2 1/2 hours late, so we knew her arrival would be delayed. There continued to be significant delays after leaving Birmingham and we made plans to pick her up from Slidell instead of New Orleans to save a couple of hours.
By the time the train reached Laurel, MS, the estimated time of arrival at Slidell was after 11pm (original arrival time was about 7:15pm.) Just outside of Laurel, my daughter called to tell me that her train had hit a tree and they were stopped indefinitely for inspection. At this time, we decided to drive to Hattiesburg to pick her up. The train arrived at Hattiesburg around 11:10pm and finally arrived at Slidell around 2am.

In addition, Daniel was fabulous and was great in ensuring that my 86yr old mother with mobility challenges was well tended getting in and out of the vehicle, as well as at our pick up and drop off points. The driver who picked my daughter up from the airport was stuck in traffic, but kept contact with her and let her know there was an issue. He was very polite and made her feel completely at ease. She even said, "I've only been here 2 hours and feel like I know everyone." We decided to use a private transportation company instead of a ride-share situation since my daughter's flight arrived at about 12:00am. We felt this was the safer option. Loved her sharing personal thoughts, and her experience during Katrina was heartbreaking. ROVERRSD offered a fair prize for the ride.
Lynette was very dependable, very friendly and indeed very caring. She realy looked after us very well. We enjoyed a safe ride and some good local info shared by Lynette. We prob didn’t need to, but it was fairly cheap $15 and we figured we’d be able to jump on transit if we needed to get around. We finally tried using the jazzy pass and we got on two different busses and were told the Jazzy Pass wasn’t accepted. So if you know the system and can be sure you are using RTA busses and streetcars..jazzy pass might be worth it. If you don’t know what you’re doing, do some research bc there are different busses run by Jefferson Parish..and jazzy pass is not accepted.
On another note, we got on the St. Charles street at and rode the entire route. Nice to see the parks and large old homes. Our guide was really informative and friendly.
High speed through the swamp was really invigorating and fun! I highly recommend going on one of these tours! We had tried for months to find ground transportation to get us around the city without success. We found Posh at the airport. What a blessing!! The Vans were clean and comfortable. They accommodated us quickly and efficiently and many times on short notice.
