    Truly done well.
The history of the museum is as interesting as the exhibits.
6 buildings, going to be 7!
In 5 hours we didn't see it all.
    Our favorites were:
    The Museum Men exhibit
    The Bastone exhibit
    The Beyond all Boundaries movie
    The Boeing hall

This was out of the way. The Hop-On Hop-Off bus dropped us what they said was nearby … when we finally found it by asking people coming out of the Convention Center, we were enchanted.

This is a great tour, preceded by an informative film and Mac was a wonderful guide, very keen to answer all our questions.

We really got a flavour of the Mardi Gras parades and even saw a likeness of our Queen!

    Free tour with 3 tastings.
All staff were super friendly. It is a self tour with videos, computer generated information, photos and text. Very well presented. I would highly recommend.
Also the bathrooms are super nice and clean!

Cute museum dedicated to the first licensed pharmacy in the city. As a pharmacy professional it was nice to see the history related to the start of the profession. It was a little crowded on the Saturday afternoon that I went but I think this is because the Children's hospital parade had just ended and it was a Saturday. I imagine it would be less crowded during the week. Take your time through there to learn more about the start of pharmacy.

The presentation concentrates on the way "house" slaves were treated. It was comprehensive and moving. It is difficult to understand how educated, supposedly Christian people, could be so careless of the rights of other human beings.

Fantastic sculpture collection, ancient and contemporary, set in a vast and calm inducing nature park full of majestic live oaks cloaked in Spanish moss. We loved the juxtaposition of human created art nestled amongst nature’s own art. It lifted us out of the hustle and bustle and infused our souls with serenity.

We took the docent tour and found it to be very informative and helpful in understanding more about the pieces. The guide was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and engaged the group to explore their own thoughts and feelings.

The art is evocative, impressive, humbling. And it was fun to recognize styles we had seen other work from the same artists in other places in the world from Paris to San Francisco to Burning Man!

I only wished we had more time to see every piece and explore more of the park. But we opted to split time with the museum interior exhibits and have a delicious lunch at their cafe as well. There was a special glass exhibit at the museum at the time.

The crowd in the butterfly garden was awful. There was lots of pushing and not much time to enjoy the beauty of the butterflies. We paid the extra money, and my granddaughter released a butterfly for its first flight. My granddaughter was amazed, and it made it worth the crowd and money worth it.

    An interesting, informative museum.
Loved the immersive experience of the French Quarter after dark.
Disturbed by exhibition on mass incarceration in Louisiana especially the brutality at Angola, where we’d been for a carefree rodeo earlier in our trip.
Had coffee and croissants on another day sat in the courtyard at the lovely café, along with Swifty friendship bracelet making.

A museum in two distinct parts; Mardi Gras and Floods & Hurricanes with the emphasis on Katrina.
Excellent intro to history of Mardi Gras, its customs, floats, masquerade balls. Some fabulous outfits.
The existence of Zulu blackface to this day is amazing. Guardianistas would be up in arms!
The part on hurricanes was amazing with a number of great films.
There were certainly many heroes and villains with expert predictions that were ignored.
Astonishing to see houses still being built of wood!
Great side exhibition of costumes of San Nicholas.
Didn't notice total cost or number of lives lost.
Film at end not that interesting. Overall a stunning museum.

On a 97-degree day, NOMA was a great way to beat the heat. The museum is ample but not overwhelming, and you can see the whole place in about three hours. It has a little of everything from cubists to impressionists to Renaissance and baroque. The photography galleries were especially strong.
If you come on a Wednesday, make some time to stop at the cafe for happy hour from 3-6. Great deals on some quality cocktails.
And don't sleep on the adjacent sculpture garden. Very peaceful and a diverse collection of works. Even if you don't want to go to the museum, you can walk around here for free. Worth the trip, no matter how hot it is.

I stumbled across this museum with my family as we wandered around Treme and was interested in learning about the NOLA Mardi Gras culture. When we entered the building, we were transported to another world, a dazzling array of history and art. Our guide, Jeremy, grew up in the tribe, and his passion for the art form really comes through in his lesson. His commitment to the lifestyle and educating others is admirable, and his dedication to his tribe is inspiring. He was also open to answering our burning questions. He encouraged us to attend the second line that Sunday to experience the celebration firsthand. This was a great introduction to the culture of New Orleans and the Indian Tribes represented at these parades. It was an educational experience that left us wanting more.

Note: They have recently moved to a new space, which was an improvement to what many of the past reviews commented on as "being too small". The suits are constantly being rotated to highlight different pieces from Sylvester's collection so you can visit more than once!

My 11-year-old and I stumbled on this accidentally when trying to find late night activities in the city that were age-appropriate. It's just down the street from a really cool book shop and hot dog joint that are also open late. Anyway, the market itself was really chill. Lots of great variety in creations for sale and a very diverse range of creators and art styles. There was also an area for fun photo ops and selfies. Just great vibes all around. And perfect for a hot July evening.

Great tour that provided detailed information into the architecture and history of the home. I wish this tour provided more information on the enslaved individuals.

We’re not jazz aficionados so found this a decent evocation of the jazz era, with the emphasis on New Orleans.
Surprised not more about Louis Armstrong, guess he has to make do with a very dull park a mile away.
Good to see a pic of Charlie Watts visiting, as well as acknowledgment that Swamp Blues influenced the Stones.
The US Mint was a nice addition to the jazz museum, because the building was the US Mint before.

Lovely museum. Customer service is nice and helpful. And the art, a window into the South over time in many different mediums. My friend and I both enjoyed all that we saw. Where were the Florida artists?
