What travelers are saying
- Dr.Abhijit BKolkata (Calcutta), India4 contributionsA beautiful lake beneath the hills with lush green surroundings, very tempting for a paddle boat ride.Written January 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Hagdaz15 contributionsPicturesque waterfall but somewhat difficult to get close to it. Must follow many small local people roads to reach a parking area from where must walk some various rough walking paths to reach the foot of the waterfall. Solid shoes are required.Written March 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Kai WahMalaysia2,782 contributionsA slightly different temple from what we visited during our Sri Lanka trip (as mostly are Buddhist Temples). This is Hindu temple with Monkey God statue and interesting embellishment at the roof of the temple. There are many monkeys around this temple, but they are generally not aggressive if visitors ignore them. A small stream at the back of the temple as some visitors would spend some time along the streams. A small temple for a short 30 mins visit without entrance fee, but donations are encouraged without pressure.Written March 20, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Christian_aldOud-Beijerland, The Netherlands69 contributionsImpressive to see all the tea plantations in Nuwara eliya, which are very big. We had a very good tour guide who showed us the factory and explained the process of making tea very clear. Also very impressive to see under which circumstances the employees live.Written April 19, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Kekin2011Mumbai, India302 contributionsA nice Hanuman temple opened in 2001. it is handled by the Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka. The temple building seemed appealing from the outside. Unfortunately, we couldn't go inside the actual temple as the temple door was closed by the time we reached there.
The actual temple is open from 7 AM to 12:45 PM and from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The complex also houses a big canteen where you can have a full meal or some snacks (only vegetarian). There were some shops selling Sri Lankan coffee, tea and, other spices.
Scenic views of the Nuwara Eliya hills from here were just too good!Written January 31, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Shafeer ZMawanella, Sri Lanka35 contributionsGreat place to observe different kind of flora and fauna!. This is just a 30 minutes journey from Nuwara Eliya Town. A must visit place during your Nuwara Eliya TripWritten March 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- chulanthaMoratuwa, Sri Lanka99 contributionsIt takes about one hour to climb to the top. Take water. Parking in and around that area is terrible. Go early. Wear a good pair of shoes. Some areas are tricky to climb.Written January 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Kevin SPontypridd, UK5,251 contributionsThe initial surprise here was paying 400 rupees per person to enter. I don't think I've encountered a city or town park in the UK or Europe you pay to enter. But it is only £1.40 and the park is very nice. Small, only 800 metres if you enter through one gate and go straight to exit the other but with other paths within the park and pretty arrays of flowers, shrubs and trees it is a quiet respite from the busy town.Written February 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- chulanthaMoratuwa, Sri Lanka99 contributionsWe only got to see it from outside. Its a beautiful location. Unfortunately it has been closed for public for about 2 years now as a result of the pandemic.Written January 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- acmemcColombo, Sri Lanka647 contributionsView is good when there is a good flow of water on the river. The scenery around is breathtaking. Can be viewed from the main road.Written September 3, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- FarhanColombo, Sri Lanka24 contributionsIts really worthy traveling to Moon Plains when you visit Nuwara-Eliya. Its better if you can go early morning around 8-9 on a clear sky day.Written July 10, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Michael MorrisPalma de Mallorca, Spain35 contributionsWe stopped at this viewpoint on our way from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. The views are breathtaking and span across 3 waterfalls and a large lake. If you walk through the little crafts shop in the parking lot, you will find a stair case at the back which leads to a rooftop viewing point. The views from there are the best! Within about a 5 minutes drive from there, is the Ramboda Waterfall where a hotel is located. If you walk to the bottom floor you can access the trail which leads to the Waterfall itself and have lunch at the restaurant afterwards.Written November 22, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Francois TJohannesburg, South Africa914 contributionsWe visited on a Saturday morning and the drive from Nuwara Eliya to Damro is not far but the views was absolutely breathtaking as it was a clear morning and seeing the people working in the plantations was an amazing sight. At the tea factory we were taken on a tour by a very knowledgeable guide and we truly enjoyed it and learned a lot. We then had a very nice cup of tea to finish off the tour. They do offer tours (safari) into the tea plantations but we did not do that. Would recommend a visit. We did find the shop a bit expensive.Written April 10, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Tharaka DMinuwangoda, Sri Lanka316 contributionsWe visited there in our journey to Horton Plains. Evening is the best time to visit. Many people come there to eat. Try not to pollute the environment.Written January 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Naveen RajapakseHadahaa Island371 contributionsThis is the highest point who can view around the hills in Nuwaraeliya. The point located in Shanthipura which far away from the city. Anyone can easily view following locations from the point as well. Specially can see Piduruthalagala mountain forest, Radella Radio transmission hill, Gregory Lake, Haggala mountains, Seven virgins mountains and Sri phadha Mount Peak as well.Written March 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
