Jemeluk Beach in Amed is like the old Bali still and so we're very happy to be here. We came here from Lovina and as I really did not like Lovina, and so Jemeluk Beach and Amed was a nice surprise.
It is a large curved black sand beach with lots of fishing boats and Warungs and inexpensive simple accommodation on the beach front. The beach is black sand but surprisingly the beach was clean and the swimming was really nice. Black sand bottom beaches are not that enticing but I snorkeled, and there were quite a few fish to keep me entertained. The water was warm. But I do not rate the coral in the bay, as there is a lot of dead coral. I believe the snorkeling is good further out but as we have snorkeled in beautiful places like The Barrier Reef in Australia, and Japanese Gardens in Tonga and so I do not need to set myself up to be disappointed so stuck to the inner bay.
While there, we watched a fishing boat pull in, and he had some Mahimahi, so we settled on a price to come back and go fishing.
We came back a week later from Seminyak arriving at 4am. It was a little hard to find at that time of the morning as pitch black. Ended up parking in a nearby place, which turned out not to be their parking and the owner of that Warung was a little annoyed with us despite there being plenty of room.
The trip out to the Bombie was in the pitch black. We got there, and the water was a little rough. Therefore, I did not want to fish, so I left that to my husband. We got 3 fish and decided to head back to get out of the slop of the waves. It was a wet trip back, and luckily, the skipper had a dry bag as the bottom of the boat and us got absolutely soaking.
I did also have to ask him for life jackets, which he obligingly put in our boat but it was not an automatic thing to do.
We had a rinse off on the beach front dive place/Warung and gave our Mahimahi fish x 3 to Beten Enjung Home Stay & Waroeng and she cooked it whole for us and served it with a salad and sauce. It was really tasty. We ate it right on the beach and had a swim/snorkel afterwards before heading back to Seminyak. The owner and her brother run the homestay/warung and fishing boat. They were good communicators (everybody here uses Whats App) and friendly.

Small beach. Two chairs and an umbrella will cost 100k rupiah. Very closely packed. Pebbly beach with black sand. The reef is very close to the beach and pretty, if you want to be able to actually float over it, find a passage and go to deeper water (close and easy to do). You get haggled on the beach as usual: saru, boats, massages, bracelets etc. but not too terrible.

Absolutely worthwhile experience, everyone from the team at apniesta is super friendly and pro.
I felt safe and confident with Kyle, our level 1 instructor, he’s such a legend, helped us all to progress and enjoy the experience . Nathalie and Vicki were co-instructing as well, which was great learning and being supported by other coaches.

    Good massage and nice atmosphere
Little touches like Ginger Tea before and raspberry tea after were appreciated.
Massage was outside and under shade which was very pleasant
Only small negative was pesky flies kept landing on me which I guess you can’t do much about if you’re outdoors, but it did spoil the experience a little

Great spa on main road in Amed. Massage starts with Tea Drinking and choosing your oils. Well priced massages in a beautiful setting, great for couples as has 2 massage beds side by side where you look out into the garden. Very relaxing - really peaceful vibe. Is busy so book in for your treatment.

We messaged Dede on WhatsApp, just days before we wanted to make the tour and he replied immediately with a lot of great ideas. We even changed the itinerary the day before our tour and it was no struggle at all.
Dede and his girlfriend were incredibly nice and you were able to talk about the balinese culture as well as everything else of interest. They gave us a lot of freedom concerning the schedule and even stopped multiple times for an ATM as well as clothing.
We could not have wished for a better tour in Amed, thank you guys!

we were looking for a good massage around Amed and decided to enquire with the lady at the reception. The place looks Ok but not too luxurious. We asked if the masseurs are strong and she said we can request for right amount of force. Indeed we had a great relaxing massage that unknotted many of our tight muscles.

Buddha Sunset Yoga is the perfect place to begin or to deepen your practice of yoga. The teachers are attentive and offer diverse styles of yoga and meditation. Once you arrive the peaceful sounds of the ocean, birds, and surrounding nature ease you into a state of zen.

On the property there is also a great restaurant, The Smiling Buddha, overlooking the ocean. The food is delicious and it is a great place to enjoy a nice tea and or meal after you practice.

I have read some of the other reviews here, and to be fair to the ways of Indonesia, you aren't going to get the same kind of treatment as you would in say, North America. You're also paying a fraction of the cost you would pay at home. The training and schooling for these treatments is probably learned from their families and some might be training but it's your job to let them know what you want. When I wanted more pressure, I was given more pressure and they did a fantastic job. They aren't shy or uncomfortable about the naked body here, and most massage places wait in the room while you change. If you want them to leave, just ask them. This is the practice of THEIR country, not yours. I would suggest to more foreigners that they learn to appreciate those differences, and not try to impose their ways of life on a country that they are visiting. We are very privileged guests here.
My husband surprised me with a couples massage, a manicure and a hair cream bath which is probably the most amazing thing we have discovered here. We went back a second time it's that good. They give your hair a cream treatment, and after giving the best shampoo you will ever have, they give you a scalp, neck and shoulder massage for more than 45 minutes, then rinse your hair for you. I have naturally curly hair so giving me a blow dry without a roll brush doesn't work, it just gets frizzy so I asked my girl Elu to please give me one braid which she did, and a beautiful job at that.
I think this spa is a must stop when you're in Amed. To get two hair cream treatments cost 235k rupiah for my husband and I (taxes and service included). There are different prices for length of hair but that's more than fair. The girls here are lovely. My favourite thing was that just during our couples treatments (massage and hair treatment) the girls just focused on each of us, and didn't talk to each other while working on us. They are very professional, and the views are absolutely stunning.

Abyss were excellent and I will definitely use them again. They were not the cheapest dive school in Amed but my experience was very good and I really liked all the instructors. My partner and I did two shore dives with them to explore the Liberty Wreck. I found them on TripAdvisor and saw that they had excellent reviews so chose this company. It is a French dive school but the staff spoke fluent English. They were very responsive on WhatsApp in all communications and collected us from our hotel. The dive school is conveniently located on the main road in Amed, which is easy to find. They were close to Rumba cafe (I recommend going to this cafe for breakfast!).
The price includes an edited Go Pro video of your dive experience and delicious crepes! This was a really nice touch.

Had 90 minute massage, actual massage was very good.
Was a little disappointed that masseur kept being interrupted or popping out to talk.

I had an amazing experience completing my PADI divemaster course and certification with Amed White Sand Divers over the course of 4 weeks. I am from the US and was originally planning on taking the course in Cairns, Australia; however, I found the operation there impersonal and focused on using trainees for scut work. In contrast, the training at AWSD was super high-quality, very reasonably priced, and a true pleasure. I was so happy I pivoted to Bali!
I looked into several dive shops around Bali, and Pierre from AWSD was super quick to respond and hop on a call with me to discuss the course and logistics. After talking with him, I knew I would be in great hands and have an experience focused on my learning and skill improvement. I love that the shop is Balinese owned by Sasa—he's fantastic—and most of the instructors and guides are locals.
Pierre was my primary instructor: he's very experienced and is a tec diver as well, so he had a ton of knowledge. He was always super supportive, and he also pushed me to work hard to refine and practice my knowledge and craft. I found this combination of high standards and encouragement to be ideal. He didn't just want me to get through the course, he wanted to teach me to become a true professional.
I frequently accompanied and assisted some of the other great guides and instructors, including Brong, Kadek, Rauh, and Sunir. I learned from all of them, and it was awesome being able to hone my skills by assisting with real clients and students.
In addition to doing the course requirements, I got in a ton of dives, asked to learn about the business and things like repairing gear and filling cylinders, and really enjoyed getting to spend time with both the locals and visitors in Amed.
11/10, no notes, absolutely dive with AWSD. I hope to come back soon.
