Jemeluk Beach in Amed is like the old Bali still and so we're very happy to be here. We came here from Lovina and as I really did not like Lovina, and so Jemeluk Beach and Amed was a nice surprise.
It is a large curved black sand beach with lots of fishing boats and Warungs and inexpensive simple accommodation on the beach front. The beach is black sand but surprisingly the beach was clean and the swimming was really nice. Black sand bottom beaches are not that enticing but I snorkeled, and there were quite a few fish to keep me entertained. The water was warm. But I do not rate the coral in the bay, as there is a lot of dead coral. I believe the snorkeling is good further out but as we have snorkeled in beautiful places like The Barrier Reef in Australia, and Japanese Gardens in Tonga and so I do not need to set myself up to be disappointed so stuck to the inner bay.
While there, we watched a fishing boat pull in, and he had some Mahimahi, so we settled on a price to come back and go fishing.
We came back a week later from Seminyak arriving at 4am. It was a little hard to find at that time of the morning as pitch black. Ended up parking in a nearby place, which turned out not to be their parking and the owner of that Warung was a little annoyed with us despite there being plenty of room.
The trip out to the Bombie was in the pitch black. We got there, and the water was a little rough. Therefore, I did not want to fish, so I left that to my husband. We got 3 fish and decided to head back to get out of the slop of the waves. It was a wet trip back, and luckily, the skipper had a dry bag as the bottom of the boat and us got absolutely soaking.
I did also have to ask him for life jackets, which he obligingly put in our boat but it was not an automatic thing to do.
We had a rinse off on the beach front dive place/Warung and gave our Mahimahi fish x 3 to Beten Enjung Home Stay & Waroeng and she cooked it whole for us and served it with a salad and sauce. It was really tasty. We ate it right on the beach and had a swim/snorkel afterwards before heading back to Seminyak. The owner and her brother run the homestay/warung and fishing boat. They were good communicators (everybody here uses Whats App) and friendly.

Small beach. Two chairs and an umbrella will cost 100k rupiah. Very closely packed. Pebbly beach with black sand. The reef is very close to the beach and pretty, if you want to be able to actually float over it, find a passage and go to deeper water (close and easy to do). You get haggled on the beach as usual: saru, boats, massages, bracelets etc. but not too terrible.

Went 4 persons from Gili Air to Padang Bai. Ferry was 30 minutes late, but ride was slightly faster than estimated. No issues.

The boat carries the company name, so easy to recognize when in port.

When arriving at the doc, there is 1 billion taxi drivers and people trying to sell. We never use these as we don’t want to support that behaviour.

We used Gojek - which is not allowed in Padang Bai port - guess to limit price competition, but we used another address slightly away from port and agreed pick-up with the driver.

There are plenty of fast boats plying the waters between Bali and the Gilli Islands and Lombok but only a couple head for peaceful Amed on the east coast of Bali. The main problem with Pacha express was that it did not have an office on the main island and therefore, you don't know where the boat is going to come ashore. I almost missed it because it was hidden by a much larger boat. The boat visits each of the three Gilli islands then heads for Bangsal on the Lombok coast before heading across the straight to Jemeluk Bay, Amed, Bali. It is never as crowded as the better known destinations. Amed is what Gilli Trawangan was 10 years ago....beach bum territory but with way better snorkeling.

We messaged Dede on WhatsApp, just days before we wanted to make the tour and he replied immediately with a lot of great ideas. We even changed the itinerary the day before our tour and it was no struggle at all.
Dede and his girlfriend were incredibly nice and you were able to talk about the balinese culture as well as everything else of interest. They gave us a lot of freedom concerning the schedule and even stopped multiple times for an ATM as well as clothing.
We could not have wished for a better tour in Amed, thank you guys!

Buddha Sunset Yoga is the perfect place to begin or to deepen your practice of yoga. The teachers are attentive and offer diverse styles of yoga and meditation. Once you arrive the peaceful sounds of the ocean, birds, and surrounding nature ease you into a state of zen.

On the property there is also a great restaurant, The Smiling Buddha, overlooking the ocean. The food is delicious and it is a great place to enjoy a nice tea and or meal after you practice.

Morgan was an excellent driver, he was always on time and smiling 😁 he was very friendly and I enjoyed talking to him over the course of 16 hours I spent traveling to various places. The organization was effortless by Ketut as well. The Mount Batur tour was fantastic and my guide, Ika, was great to hang out with for the climb. She was cheerful and a good companion.

Kadek really provides you with an unforgettable experience which you’ll never forget. Kadek responded to my messages really quickly and I had my fishing and snorkeling trip booked within 30 minutes. Getting to experience the traditional fishing methods they use with Kadek and his farther was amazing. Then having the opportunity to cook the fish we caught with his wife was a special moment and one of the nicest meals I’ve had on my travels. If you want a local experience I couldn’t recommend them enough

No Fear Diving in Amed exceeded all our expectations! We were on a family holiday and wanted everyone to have the chance to dive, including our youngest son, who struggles with anxiety. Tom & Amanda were incredible—patient, supportive, and truly dedicated to making sure he felt comfortable every step of the way. Thanks to their expertise and thoughtful approach, he successfully completed his Junior Advanced Open Water qualification alongside his siblings.

Their meticulous planning also meant we had the opportunity to complete our own Nitrox and Deep certifications without a hitch. Everything was seamless, professional, and stress-free.

If you’re looking for a dive shop that prioritises safety, personalized attention, and an all-around fantastic experience, No Fear Diving is the place to go. We can’t thank Tom & Amanda enough for making this such a memorable part of our trip!

We had a great time and a great experience diving with Bali Diversity. Our guide Marion, who is also one of the owners and a super experience diving instructor, has great knowledge about the marine life, awareness for marine conservation and magic eyes to find the tiniest and coolest creatures. They are the best. Amazing dives in Amed area for macro lovers.

We had the pleasure of having Wayan as our driver in Bali, and he truly made our trip unforgettable. Wayan is incredibly honest, funny, and always punctual. His car was spotless, and he made us feel comfortable from the start. Beyond being a great driver, he’s a genuinely kind and respectful person with a heart of gold. He went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience. If you’re looking for someone reliable and with a great sense of humor, Wayan is your guy! Highly recommended!

    Dear Padi Quality Management Team,

I take this opportunity to share a grateful diving experience I had recently with the "La Bila" diving center in Amed on the island of Bali. I've had my open water certification for less than a year so I don't have much experience yet. I chose to do a refresher course with this center as it had good reviews. The trainer Mr. Pascal was committed to providing me with consistent, world-class diving training exceeding all my expectations. He revealed himself to be a person with high professional experience and extreme human sensitivity and he demonstrated this in several dives. He immediately recognized my weaknesses and dedicated his experience with passion and professionalism so that I reached a high level of knowledge and experience to the point of weakening my insecurities, making me feel confident and capable of managing any unusual situation, thus making my experience submarine even more comfortable and pleasant. I recommend this Padi diving instructor and training center to any novice diver.

A huge thank you to the Padi school which, with its international programs, manages to guarantee a high quality of underwater training to its members, thus providing unique and unforgettable experiences. Thank you very much
