I'd say the video was good -- narrated by Peter Coyote. No credits so I wonder if Ken Burns produced it, ha. The monument itself isn't that much. BUT. we had the ranger all to ourselves so could ask lots of questions about the construction and the murals. The Ranger was GOOD! And I learned about the Spanish helper ... Vigo.

Tour $13 seem slightly pricey and then there are donation boxes all over the place on top. The guide explained that signing the guest book helps them win grants to care for the property. The tour would benefit from an outdoor element. Would also have been nice to hear more about the construction process. Nice though that the tour covered all three floors. oh, the guide needs a better outfit and a petticoat ... the things we notice. not sure why there is a collection there of former president signatures. Also learned why toasters are called toasters... well, a story anyway. Lots of good artifacts and update on what killed President Harrison.

Beautiful church. They do hold evening services there but was just open in the morning when we was there. Great quick stop.

Very quiet area--perfectly peaceful for reflection, enjoying nature, snd viewing the Wabash River. It is easy to imagine Tecumseh arriving with a multitude of canoes and warriors to meet with Territorial Governor William Henry Harrison prior to the Battle of Tippecanoe. Thoughts travel to the garrison of soldiers who once were here to protect Vincennes. The area is well cared for, and it appears the short stockade walls were recently added to mark the walls of the old fort. EXCELLENT signage providing detailed information as you wall the perimeter.

The riverwalk is not very long but it is wide enough for several people to walk beside each other. There are benches along the way. At one end is the Tecumsa statue and the other is the Vincennes statue. There is plenty of parking on both ends and even in the middle.

Make sure to stop nearby and walk over to read the history plaque carved into the stone on the west side of the bridge.

My husband and I visited Vincennes to see the sights. We walked down Main Street and stopped in the Bible Bookstore. This is a beautiful, big bookstore with lots to see for purchase. We spoke with one of their workers (Angie), the owner (Chad) and the manager (Julie). They told us about Thursday Church so we attended last night. The church has a service on Sunday mornings as well, but provide this for people who can't or don't attend on Sunday mornings. My husband offered to play bass for the praise band and he was welcomed with open arms. This church has three ministries as well as houses the 5th grade for a local school. They also stream the service on the web, with the service running about 1.5 hours. There is a connecting door leading into The Faith Store, one of the ministries the church owns to benefit those in need. The items for sale are made by people in third world countries who have been freed from the sex industry and other such horrible places, learn how to craft beautiful goods, and the profits from the sales at The Faith Store goes right back into helping others. The church also has a children's ministry and a wonderful, large youth group. Finally, a bus and a limo are provided to transport people to and from church.

The mound is #10 on a list of self-guided tour stops around Vincennes. There's a sign posted at the site with a phone number to call...select the number you want, and hear some information about the site. This is a great help, and also serves to suggest other sites around town you might want to visit. Hike up the mound for a great view, as well. There's an old stairway of sorts on the side toward the road, or you can just go straight up any way you want.

Very unusual but appropriate monument to this great Native American leader, Nice view of the Wabash River and near the home of his arch enemy William Hanry Harrison.
